Can you guys help me out here, I'm having a bit of writers block concerning this new chapter of Fury I'm working on. I plan to have the videos of Vincent Cormier beating the horses go viral on the Web and to have the media report on it, but I have no idea where to go from there.
Some help would be appreciated, thanks!

You had the next plotline right in front of you, only you didn't realise it!

Vincent Cormier won't go to the police about the theft because it would bring into the open him abusing his horses. Jason and Mike can't go to the police because they stole Lightning.

Once the videos goes viral & the media latch onto it, the police are involved whether anyone likes it or not, & Jason, Mike & Jack are in double trouble - not only the theft, but failing to notify the correct authorities about a suspected case of animal cruelty.

The media will pursue the case because the story has so many angles (animal cruelty, animal rights people taking the law into their own hands, ranch full of singleton guys & gals, oh so many angles!!!!), & a few old skeletons can come tumbling out of everyone's closets in the process once they start digging for ways to keep the story going.

That will put a lot of strain on everyone at Six Gable Stables with one another, as well as with their relations with people in Crystal Falls, some of whom may have business dealings with both parties & Cormier might try to force them to cease trading with Six Gable Stables if they want to keep his business, which his lawyer can spin to the press to say people in Crystal Falls are backing him not the animal rights nutters.

Six Gable Stables may also attract support from people they don't want - militant animal rights people who believe horses shouldn't be ridden anyway, underworld types that Cormier had crossed & they see this as a way of paying him back.

Chapter Twenty-Four



“AND NOW BACK TO CHANNEL 17 NEWS”





“In local news, A Crystal Falls man is being charged with multiple counts of aggravated animal cruelty after several disturbing videos of him abusing horses went viral on the popular video-sharing site, YouTube. Animal rights activists have urged the Crystal Falls Police Department to investigate the claim. Now we warn all viewers, what you are about to see is very disturbing.”




Viewers of the local news station are absolutely horrified to witness the same videos that Jason and Mike viewed. ‘STAND (BEEP) STILL! I’M GONNA HAVE YOU (BEEP) KILLED!! YOU WORTHLESS PEICE OF HORSE-FLESH!’ Vincent screams at the spooked horse.

“As you can plainly see here, a young man is violently whipping and yanking the reins of this young, unbroken Dutch Warmblood colt that is not even four years old yet!”





“And in this clip, as he rides this very light thorougbred stallion, he kicks his sides multiple times, yanks the reins in a painful manner, and look right here-he PUNCHES the stallion’s neck, causing the horse to panic and send Vincent tumbling off his back!”




“The man that was abusing the horses is revealed to be 21 year old Vincent Cormier who lives in Crystal Falls. Cormier is known in the fashion world as a male model for Hollister, usually posing wearing cowboy-like clothes like jeans and chaps and usually posing with horses. And we’re just getting a breaking detail that is even more disturbing than we thought. Vincent Cormier allegedly owns a riding school where he teaches people how to handle a horse in the same abusive manner that he does. In fact, in one of his ‘vlogs’ he explained that way he treats his horses is merely ‘tough love’ and not abuse. However, it is up to the police and the system of justice to decide.”






Jason turns off the television, looks to Mike and smiled, clearly prideful of what the two of them accomplished.

“That problem worked itself out! Vincent Cormier got arrested and he’s probably gonna have his ranch shut down for good!”
“I hope that sucker rots in jail!”
“And the best part of this whole deal is, WE’RE probably gonna get Vincent’s horses! Just think about it, Six Gable Stables is the closest to the Cormier Stables and Riding School and Jack is known all around the Colorado horse community as a renowned rehabilitator of problem horses. It just makes sense that the animal right’s groups are going to choose US! And together, we’re gonna give those mares, geldings, and stallions the best home they’ve ever been in!”




After the two young men saw the news story on TV, they went outside to notify Jack about what happened to Vincent Cormier.

“Hey Jack! Have you heard the news?”
“What news?”
“Its all around the country, Vincent Cormier was ARRESTED yesterday! It turns out; the videos of him beating the horses went viral and spread all around YouTube and all round social media!#f***youvincentcormier is trending BIG TIME on Twitter, and it looks like he’s gonna go to jail for a long time!”
“This is a victory, boys! One less animal-abuser victimizing horses is a very good thing!”




Later in the afternoon, Jack was inside the house as he heard his doorbell rang. He assumed that it was the Animal Rescue coming to ask him to rehabilitate the horses that Vincent Cormier abused, it was quite a shock to find that it wasn’t Animal Rescue, but a police officer.

“Hello, officer.”
“Hi how are you, Are you Jack Silver?”
“Yes I am.”
“I’m Officer Felipe Marshall, are you the employer of a Mr. Michael Schaefer and a Mr. Jason Weiss? Is it okay if I ask them a couple of questions?”
“Ok! I’ll call for them. Jason? Mike? The police are here and they want to ask you some questions!!!”





Jason goes to greet the police officer, but Mike is absolutley astounded, he recognizes the Officer Marshall as the police officer who read him the charges in his jail cell approximatley a year ago.

“Hello, officer!”
"Well, Look who it is....Michael Alexander Schaefer. It looks to me that working here has done you some good. Last time I saw you, you were basically a bum on the streets. Now, you actually look a fine, upstanding, respectable young man!"
"Thank you for noticing, officer Marshall."




“I'm just here to talk to you guys. First off, where were you on the night of June 6th, 2013?”
“We were working here and we were just about to drive home.”
“Oh really? Well...we have an signed affidavit from an eyewitness that on the night of June 6th, you were on the property of Vincent Cormier; whom we have recently arrested for animal cruelty where you proceeded to assault him in a surprise attack and walk away with “Whitey” his prized white Camarillo stallion.”
“Oh you mean Lightni----oh sh*t”

It was too late. Jason already made his slip of the tongue. Officer Marshall just scowls in dissapointment at him.

“My eyewitness claims that it was you, Jason, that jumped him, punched him in the nose repeatadley, and stole his white horse and that you had manipulated Michael to tag along an accomplice.”

"WHAT?!?!? MANIPULATED?!"





The cop grabbed at his belt to reveal a pair of handcuffs. Then, Officer Marshall said those words that was the equivalent of someone taking a baseball bat and beating Jason over the head with it.

“Mr. Weiss, we at the CFPD have a warrant here to arrest you for grand larceny and assault. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law....”

“I can’t believe this, Officer Marshall.....who was the eyewitness?! AND I THOUGHT YOU WERE JUST HERE TO TALK, NOT ARREST!” Mike yelled in disbelief. Officer Marshall only replied.....

“Make your best guess....”






While Jason was being led out the door in cuffs, it suddenly hits him why the cop said ‘make your best guess.’






CREATOR COMMENTS: I really hope you like this chapter, next chapter will deal with the rocky relationship between Jason and his father Jacob that was hinted at in Chapter Eighteen and how Jason grew up to love horses.

Yeah, there was only one way this could go from last episode, & now the fun can really begin. Poor old Jason though!

I think it would be interesting (and messy) if it turned out Vincent wasn't the eyewitness and instead was someone from the ranch. Unless you were suggesting that the 'officer' was Vincent, or friend/worker of Vincent.

For a moment I thought that policeman was going to arrest Jack. That would have been most upsetting!

SURPRISE!! NEW CHAPTER!!!

Chapter Twenty-Five





The mood at the stables has been rather melancholy as of two days ago. Mike, Karilla, Jennifer, Jack and Marissa try to carry on like nothing happened, a tactic to keep their minds off it. But they couldn’t avoid the elephant in the room forever. There was someone missing from their gang, their own “Saddle Club”. Mike could hear Karilla sobbing softly next to her, so he put his arm around her and they proceeded to cuddle, just like a married couple.




Jack has been on the phone all day talking to a certain someone. If he had the money, he would have gladly bailed out Jason in a heartbeat, but unfortunately, he’s well off but not THAT well off.

“Uh-huh? So....you want that? Good.....”




Jack walks into the room, his face showed a somber facade, but underneath that was a glimmer of hope in his eye.

“Guys, I just got done talking to Jason’s father.....(sigh)...he agreed to bail out his son on one condition. That he speaks to the person that was with Jason when this whole thing happened. Mike, he wants you to be there tomorrow....”




The next morning, Mike made it over the palatial Roaring 20s-like mansion that was Jason’s home. He could easily pick up that Mark, Jason’s father was both disappointed in his son and want him to learn a lesson and in the same vein, wanted him out of prison.

“Mr. Weiss, I have no idea why you are so reluctant to bail out your only son.”

“Jason was always a stubborn pain in the ass, that’s how he always was. But each time he would do something stupid, it always seems like he had good intentions. But waltzing onto someone else’s property, beating the owner up, and stealing his horse?! How the f*** can anyone defend that!?”

“I can.”





“Oh yeah?”

“Mr. Weiss, I’m under the impression that the cops only told you half of the story. I can tell you what really transpired that night. Jason saw these videos uploaded on YouTube of this guy training his horses in a very abusive way, and he saw a white stallion in one of the videos that seemed familiar to him. He knew damn well that white stallion was being subject to absolutely horrific abuse by that man. So he decided to risk everything, now even his freedom to save that stallion from his abusive owner.”




It took Mark a while to let Mike’s story soak in, but then he spoke up.

“That....sounds like my son...”

“Now you see?”

“Yeah....At first I didn’t believe you, but....you basically fit my son to a T. That was indeed very noble of him....and I do plan to bail him out...”




“Thank you so much Mr. Weiss....”

As Mike was about to walk out of the mansion, he notices a picture. It was a photograph of Jason riding the black stallion known as Dante.




“That’s another fine example of my son’s stubborn-yet-noble nature.”

“What, Dante?”

“Yeah......”




“When I first met Jason almost a year ago, he said that you disapproved of Jason getting Dante.”

“(sigh)....Yes...Yes I did......When Jason was eighteen, my wife and I took him to the Equestrian Center to pick out his very own horse as a graduation present. Out of all the gorgeous mares and geldings he could have chosen, he chose the horse that had to be isolated from the others. The black stallion was known to be wild, dangerous and unpredictable. In fact the Equestrian Center had him scheduled to be euthanized. And like he told you, I did flip my sh*t when he told me that he wanted that beast. That horse seemed completely untamable and there was one time where he actually attacked Jason while he was trying to break him.......After that incident, I was ready to get my hunting rifle, put a bullet in that stallion’s skull and end it right there. And then one day...it was like he was never wild....the black stallion calmed down and began to trust other human beings....pretty soon, Jason was able to ride him!





“How did Jason do that? Earn Dante’s trust?”

“If you want the truth, around that time, he got really interested in Alexander the Great of Macedonia and he learned about the legend of Alexander The Great’s horse, Bucephalus. And I guess that the deadly nature of Bucephalus, caused by his fear of his own shadow reminded him of the wild nature of Dante which was cause by a fear of people....and that inspired a way to tame him...because after he earned the stallion’s trust, the two of them became INSEPERABLE. That’s why I was so shocked to find out that he turned him loose months ago!”

“Dante was escaping the stables at night to be with a palomino mare. He found a girlfriend in the wild and Jason decided not to hold Dante back anymore and he set him free to roam the plains and be with the wild mare.”




Mark’s eyes scanned Mike up and down before smiling and patting him on the shoulder.

“Mike, thank you so much for making me realize so much about my son. Even though he is stubborn, impulsive and prone to stupid decisions.....he really is a good person....And when I bail him out, the first thing I’m gonna do is wrap my arms around him and give him the biggest, most gigantic bear hug a man can give to his son.”

Ah good, I was beginning to go cold turkey without my Fury fix! Loved the Alexander the Great reference, great chapter!

Can I just say that the ranch is greatly decorated, so kudos to whoever made it.
