Hooray for Ann Budge! Good luck to her in untangling those messy sums.
I am no fan of churches. Dawkins is far too superior and intolerant, though, I'd agree. He does not always help his own cause.
Supposed to be sunny here tomorrow so I hope to indulge in some gardening. Then it will rain at the weekend is I won't have to do watering. Told you I was jammy!
Had a fun day today going to watch the match. Terrible outcome, but at least I had a great view from my favourite seat.
The third goal from the opponents shouldn't have happened - a penalty resulting from one of their players diving. I think the referee needed an eye test. Very cross about that, as without that cock up it would have been a draw. They really didn't play too well, unfortunately. Very tentative and a lot of passing to the opposing team's players in preference to their teammates. Whenever they had the ball they either immediately gave it away or would belt it with great force down the pitch as though it were a bomb. Really strange. What you about, Marine?
Oh well. It's been a long time since I went to a match and I did enjoy it. I'm no fair weather mariner.
So two goals for us, three goals for the visitors and five items lost over the fence into the neighbouring gardens (four balls and one water bottle that was thrown at a mad angle and shot through the fence - shame our players couldn't aim so well for the net).
Right, that's enough football chatter. We'll bore Ollie, although he is having a fun time in Sydney so maybe he'll let us off.
Happy Easter to anyone who celebrates it. I have a lot of chocolate things here if anyone is hungry - bunnies and little eggs and.... other bunnies. In fact bunnies seem to be the majority group here. Egg-shapes seem to have gone out of fashion. That's ok, I like the bunnies. So nice to nibble their ears.
'Twas me birthday today so I had cake as well. Such excess! I may be on a sugar high for some time (you have been warned).
Here is a funny video that was sent to me. I think that even I could play this game!
Happy birthday Caspin! Hope there was plenty of plonk to go with the cake.
(I had a South African white wine with my sweet & sour today - never again!)
I never did quite get the whole connect with eggs & bunnies at Easter. If they wanted an egg connected with a mammal, why didn't they have the Easter Duck Billed Platypus instead?
According to the Marine website report they are now safe from relegation because of the way results went elsewhere, but unless my maths is wonky if Frickley win their remaining two & Marine lose both of theirs they'd be overtaken. I don't get this.
Bubble football looks like something the H&S executive would dream up. I have to admit it does look a good laugh. It would be even better if it was done on a stretched floor like a trampoline or an inflatable to increase the bounce when they fall over. Probably Jeux Sans Frontiers did something like that if the TV clips on You Tube are anything to go by!
Don't worry, I never go short of plonk! Think I'd want beer not wine with a sweet and sour though.
Nothing wonky with your arithmetic. I was in the same state of puzzlement and I think the match report was simply wrong in that regard. We are safe now, though. Crushing defeat by Chorley this afternoon, not unexpected, but Frickly drew and so that is that. Awful season but having seen them play live for the first time in a while I can see why it went so badly!
Last day at home today. Spent a lot of it playing 'Might and Magic: Clash oh Heroes' on my brother's PS3. A strangely addictive game. Looks like an animated card game or something.
Can't believe I'll be back on the train in the morning. Time flies eh.
They were playing again after playing on Saturday?
I thought that nonsense only happened in the non-leagues up here, especially the Juniors where thanks to games being rained off you can have clubs playing four games a week throughout May to finish their card before too many of their squad are on holiday & they risk fines for having to scratch matches.
Spartans won the Lowland League, which from next year means being in a play off with the winners of the Highland League & whoever finishes bottom of the Scottish Division 3 for their league place. I'm hoping Gretna have been holding back resources to lull Spartans into complacency that they'll walk it next year & get their chance of promotion.
Brora Rangers winning the Highland League this year is deeply concerning. They've been one of the bottom clubs for decades, but some banker from Singapore has been throwing money at them since last summer's close season for kicks, & now a club with no real support has walked the Highland League (they were lucky to get 30 through the gate until last August). No one is fooled that he only cares because of the prospect of seeing Brora Rangers in the Scottish League & the ego-boo of being able to say he bought them in. If they do get in & he later gets bored & walks away mid season, it will be another Gretna except far worse, as Brora will lose the only community facility they have.
In many ways Hearts will be lucky to become fan owned in that at least if we never win another trophy again, at least we'll still be around in 100 years time.
Beautiful weather today, I'm hoping it keeps up long enough to give the garden some TLC (if the bees, wasps & midges let me!)
They play quite a few weekday evenings throughout the season. They were appealing for volunteers to help on match days, which kind of made me wish I still lived at home as I would quite enjoy getting involved. I could be in charge of the sausage roll stand! Or go round to the adjacent houses to retrieve lost balls.
That doesn't sound good at all about Brora (first I've heard of them!). Could end up in a big pickle.
I'm on the train now, moving rapidly south. Quite an eventful visit, what with the footy and the birthday and also there was a burglary on the street and a small fire!
I'm a bit late, but speaking of bubble soccer, I actually played it a few weeks ago, on my school holidays with friends. It was less of a game of soccer and more of just everyone ramming into each other and rolling around. xD
Wow you've actually played bubble football, Ollie! It does look very fun but it would be difficult to take seriously I'm sure.
It was quite a struggle to return to work. That Easter break was too relaxing and I got spoiled! Oh well, Friday tomorrow. With the next two weeks affected by tube strikes, I should appreciate this nice straightforward, short week.
