You're brave, watching QT. I think we'd better check your blood pressure because watching that certainly does mine no good!
Very bright day here today - welcome, Spring!
I haven't heard the Eurovision song yet - will search the internerd tomorrow and give it a listen. My expectations are always very low for these things, yet sometimes cannot be met.
Yeah, is the warning for shepherds or sailors? Or both. Which came first? Further research is needed.
RIP Terry Pratchett. I haven't read many of his books, but will add more of them to my ever-lengthening list of things to read. Such a frightening disease. I felt quite sad yesterday about him going that way.
Yeah, was very surprised that he went just like that when he was still publishing books - unless they were put aside to be released in stages over time.
Thank goodness this is the weekend - so much to get done! But only after a good slob on the couch with a cup of tea.
I heard he coudn't write them himself any more in the end, so he only made the storys up and had someone hired to type them.
Anyway, it's a terrible loss for the world of writing. Or, let's say, the world in general.
Yes, he had trouble with physical dexterity so he couldn't write or type his work, but he could still think the stories through. I hope that not losing his creative ability was of some comfort, although what hell to be trapped in a failing body. A very cruel disease.
Minty sounds very busy and in need of several pots of restorative tea. Mmmmm tea. I need some too. *goes to teapot*
Last night I went to a whisky tasting, which was fun and interesting, if expensive. There were some very interesting ones, including one that smelled so much of smoke it was as though the glass must have caught fire. Lovely stuff.
And here we are at Monday again. Amazing.
I was disappointed to read about Marine's match with Ilkeston at the weekend, not so much because we lost to them after a winning streak of two entire games, but because some of their travelling fans were apparently abusive and obnoxious to the home crowd, with foul language and loudly shouted taunts. It seems there's a couple of repeat offenders in that regard, turning up and behaving badly. There's absolutely no need for it and I feel bad for the families that go to watch the home matches with their little kids. Ilkeston are in second place at the moment. I hope they don't end up at the top, although that will mean Minty's hated foes at FCU of Manc will probably win. I was thinking that I might try to attend more away matches next season, but if we stay up I think I'll be skipping Ilkeston.
Okay, so you all talking about the ESC finally got me to giving that song you talked about a listen. You were right. It's embarrassing.
Then I listened to ours for a comparison. (I'm German.) Better than I expected, actually, but still pretty bad. Sure, some are already comparing the artist with our last winner, Lena, but seriously, she only won due to of a lot of marketing, not because she was good.
Then I got stuck. Currently listening to Belgium's "Rhythm Inside". Can't stop before I find a personal favourite. But... but... I had stopped following that show years ago!
Oh I forgot to listen to the europop! Damn, well I have that to still look forward to then....
I didn't realise you are German, Wanda. I'll listen to Germany's song too. I am descended from Germans, among others, but sadly I have no language skills and never learned German. It's one thing I would go back and change if I had a time-machine - make a bigger effort to learn other languages. I might still be rubbish at them though.
