So polenta is more like porridge than anything else, I'm lead to understand.
Meanwhile, how is everybody doing this lovely Monday morning? I started playing Guild Wars 2 and I'm liking it... until I play the Personal Story stuff. I got slaughtered recently during one of the chapters and now I'm just getting frustrated. I get frustrated pretty easily, don't I?
I've never played anything in the Guild Wars series. One of those ones I think about getting, only to go "nah!" - I'm at that age it takes something really special to get me to part with my cash.
One day away, four to go until the weekend. I'm wishing my life away here.
Told on Friday a co-worker & I are to be seconded to other department as they are so short staffed. By noon today, am spending all time in other department doing work from my own department sent through to me as they were "urgent". Result = not doing anything for department I've been seconded to, so why did they bother?
I'm having fun with it. I played RIFT until I got to lvl 60 then I lost interest. The base game for GW2 is free now but I didn't know that so I bought the base and xpansion pack. Memories of buying TS3 stuff, I guess.
I'm closing in on lvl 30 right now. Hmm.
Polenta as a carpet? I see I cannot leave you lot unsupervised for a moment or you'll start using the world's greatest foodstuff as a rug! Wildly inappropriate. Shocking!
Sorry I haven't been talking at you at my usual rate in the last couple of weeks. I've been dealing with stresses from a variety of sources and it has taken all my energy. I missed you guys though!
Never played Guild Wars. I have been playing a little bit of Sims - it remains a wonderful distraction from real life. I also played Beyond Two Souls on the PlayStation from start to finish. It has an option to play out the story in chronological order, rather than it hopping around the timeline. I much preferred it in the right order, but perhaps I've gone a bit control-freaky after all the recent madness!
I do feel quite inspired to make something with polenta now. Mmmmmmm
Just glanced at the weather forecast, saw snowflakes, closed it again. I do not want snow in March, thank you but no.
Went to see Billy Elliot last Friday, as it will be closing soon. Lots of people in the audience were very emotional. One little boy was comforting his bawling father, which was very sweet. I am not sure how much of the stuff about the miners being on strike was lost on the kids there, or even some of the younger adults. Did you have to be around when Maggie was in power to feel the hate, or can you absorb it from others? There's a song in it about looking forward to her death so it must have been a weird and possibly wild audience on the night that she did shuffle off! The kids in it are amazing - they dance for three hours, which would be a challenge for most adults. I just hope they are not destroying their joints in the process.
Also saw a play about a US servicemen who came back from the war with no memory of his identity, then all these families try to claim him as their lost relative. A pretty crazy situation. After a while I guess you'd just pick the one who liked best - or run away from the whole lot!
We're promised snow like it's the Daily Express doing the weather forecasts, but the only flakes I see every day are in my breakfast bowl.
I think the whole world got to know how we felt about Maggie Thatcher when "Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead" almost hit No.1 in the music charts the same week. Three years ago, how time flies!
Now it appears that the Tories are about to tear themselves to pieces over another matter - they're trying to do away with their branch structure for a regional one as a means of fixing the next leadership contest so George Osbourne wins instead of Boris Johnson. Already there's open talk of branches defecting to a breakaway party or to UKIP if that happens as even grassroots Tories think Osbourne is a muppet.
I'll not mention the League Cup final Caspin if you don't - even more sickening after last night's result. Why couldn't they have done THAT when it mattered?
Leicester STILL top!
It's good King Richard III rewarding his faithful after giving him that shiny new bed.
My brother & his wife are getting uptight about the forthcoming rugrat due this month. This is going to be a fun month!
Marine won this week so I'm not worried about anything else. An actual win! Not a draw but a win!
So you are imminently going to be Uncle Minty? Crikey, that went quickly, didn't it! How nice! I hope your brother and his wife settle down - they should be conserving their strength ready for the next 18 years!

Only just catching up on this now. Nobody comes out of that incident well! But yes, sadly JKR shows some particularly poor judgment. Perhaps I shouldn't say that in case she wants to initiate legal action against me. An easy thing to threaten when you're loaded.
I see the snow really did arrive, in some areas at least! It's cold here but no exciting snowfall. I'm having a peaceful weekend of cooking giant vats of food and occasional forays into games. Everything I'm making has chillies in, so there may be unwanted consequences of eating this lot! Tastes damned fine though.
Aaarrrgh now I appear to be getting ill with something or other. My glands are swollen up like fudging marbles. Sore and grumpy, that's me. Massive hot toddy, now!

In other news, some maniac masquerading as a tree surgeon has come and pollarded the tree in the front garden. I hate it when they do that. Poor old stumpy-branched thing.
Brother & wife go in on Friday for her to be induced, it is now Wednesday, & no sign of the rugrat. The hospital is under "measures" & one midwife is meant to look after 300 patients, with no weekend cover.
Yes, you read that correctly.
