My cousin is playing his TS3 on a laptop, and it doesn't scratch up anything. Probably your laptop is sensitive to movement, like some CD players are, where if you move it, it wills scratch up your disc, or if it isn't on a flat surface. You can try that. I doubt it's a problem with all macbooks. Or you may just need to get your drive checked out, if it also scratches other discs.
