Sims 2 keeps crashing

Ever since I downloaded some things of the sims 2 website.
The game about 10mins or so into it crashes and closes down.
Now I tried again after a scan with norton 360 played the game for 20mins but this time as well as crashing it also shut the PC down and it had to reboot itself.

Can anyone help I have downloaded all the patches for the game.

You need to take the custom content that you downloaded out of your downloads folder.
Do you know what the files were?

I use sub-folders to keep my files tidy. And i have a folder called "trial" that i use for new items until I am sure they won't break my game.

I heard somewhere you could download something to go through your CC and it will clean it or something like that. I think somebody said it in my Houses thread. (On this board).

Do you mean Clean Installer, there is a link on the Wiki page, to download it.

Somebody put a lot of work into that Wiki page, it is full of useful information.

Thanks for the link.
I did a few more new downloads and I saved them into a folder and played it and seems fine.
Mind you I have also got the sims freetime patch so think that might of helpped.
I have saved the link just incase something goes wrong.

Saving the link is a good idea. I think the patch probably did help. MY game has crashed a couple of times since I got FT.

Its been working fine now the patch has be stalled.
But going to stick with the sims2.com for stuff as the other stuff has loaded so well.
