Dragon Valley thoughts?

I saw a while back that the TS3 Store was coming out with a new world (of course!) and I saw that it was called Dragon Valley. I watched the teaser video and the "baby dragons" came up and I was not a fan. I feel like they aren't going to really do much to the game to interest me and I'm most likely not going to buy this world.

Am I the only one who feels this way?

Island Paradise

Just been watching the latest Island Paradise video. Now I am really looking forward to this EP!

I'm glad they made this video short and it explains the main features of the EP without rambling. Those live presentations they do annoy the hell out of me - they are way too long and the presenters seem to have to battle as many technical glitches as we do playing the game and just end up wittering.

Building and running the resorts looks fun (I used to really like making hotels and restaurants in Sims 2 and this looks like it will be even better) and I love all the new boats, jet skis and diving. At first I didn't like the look of the house boats - too blocky, I thought - but this video shows that you could make them more boat-like with a pointy bit at the front. I'd like to make them like canal boats or live-on yachts rather than just a regular house floating on a platform.

I am almost as excited about this expansion as I was about Seasons (but not quite).

I bet my sim will be eaten by a shark at the earliest opportunity.

Everytime i leave the site, i return and i need to re login.
Its kinda annoying because it makes me retype everything.

This happens on both my browsers, so its not my settings.
Any idea why?

The Sims 2- Power Outage Scenario video

So alot ive been seeing threads on other sites about people wanting to see the cut power outage scenario, so i made a video. I hope you enjoy.
The video will lag around the middle because of a conversion error, but fixes towards the 3/4 of the video.

Basically to restore the scenario, you need to download the weather sphere from another site. (When i remember the site, ill list it).
It includes access to the power outage scenario, which completely works. (Turns off all lights, and other powered objects, and starts a timer.)

The Sims 2- Waterside Restoration Project

So for about 3 weeks ive been working hard on something im sure some people have wanted.

Its well known that many things planned for TS2 was cut. However, some of that has been restored by mods. Well, whats not restored, are certain deleted towns, such as Sedona, Europa, Riverside, Waterside.

Ive been working on re creating these from the ground up (Not riverside or europa, as they were already done by someone else), but ive been working on Waterside and Sedona.

Waterside will be scale by scale recreation of whats seen in this image:

And will feature several families from pre release previews (seen in the early trailer).

Sedona however, will be a desert land using the already made "Sedona" city layout, and will be fully custom families.

Neither of them will use CC, but they will require Every EP and Stuff Pack except for store edition and kitchen/bath. It may also require the holiday stuff pack, because ive got it installed, although i have not used any of its content in this hood.

Im also being sure to follow The Sims Wiki "Avoiding Corruption" guide to make sure this hood will be safe for your game.
Currently im on my laptop without TS2. But when i get access to my desktop i will post screenshots of my current progress.

So im new here. Ive been a sims and simcity fan since 2000 and my first sims game was The Sims Bustin Out on PS2.
I own every game in the sims and sims 2 lines, and almost all in the Sims 3 line. I also own every console sims game released to date.

My all time fave sims game is The Urbz: Sims In The City due to its level of unique features, awesome music and its just my style. (Big city life!)

I was an active member on Mod The Sims, however sadly, they changed the site layout and its just god awful. I expressed my opinion and the mods told me to flat out leave if i dont like it. So, now im at a new forum. Hope this works out.

Also, im a journalist on several popular sites. I write for Unseen64 and Geimaku, Unseen64 being my all time favoriet because we discover and report about unreleased games and beta games. Its pretty fun.

Clickable signature ideas

I thought I would try making a clickable signature to use on the EA forums, not that I post there much but worth a try perhaps.

Having never made such a thing before I was slightly at a loss so my first attempt was ..... hmmmmm what's the word ..... oh yeah - basic!

I took the hex numbers for the blue and green on SF and made them into a colour gradient on a signature-making website. It just looks grubby doesn't it! Also there's no logo and the font is wrong. But I did score a great personal victory in that I did manage to make it clickable (after half an hour of swearing at the screen and trying to get the pesky square brackets in the right order) so that the version on the EA forum brings the clickers straight here. Yay me!

This morning I had another go, using a plain blue background and pasting in the proper logo. It's a bit better but the resolution isn't great.

I might consult my household Head of IT on how to use Photoshop to make some further improvements.

Anyone have any ideas or tips?

Sims 2 - Shake it Up

For a while now, I had been making a recreation of Disney's Shake it Up. I've now finally got the courage to put it on Youtube and starting from season 1, I am uploading my full recreations of my favourite episode. With each season Spanning 11 episodes each. have put a lot of effort in it and I hope you guys will enjoy it! The names in the sequence are of the name of the Sims NOT the voicers, Bella Thorne and Zendaya. Any other questions... Will be released once every 2 weeks starting from the 8th June 2013. I wanted you guys to be the first ones to check it out as I want some personal opinions on how to make them better. Please give me some costructive Critisism as I really want your opinions on this. You have no Idea how much this will mean to me

There's a company that reckons they can establish a colony there by 2023 - ten years time.

"A Dutch company called Mars One began accepting applications just over two weeks ago for volunteers who want to be trained as astronauts.

Departure for the Red Planet is scheduled for 2022, landing seven months later in 2023 - and they will never return [due to the effect on the human body of being out there long term].

'With 78,000 applications in two weeks, this is turning out to be the most desired job in history,' said Bas Lansdorp, co-founder of Mars One. 'These numbers put us right on track for our goal of half a million applicants.'

They have been inundated with applications from all over the globe, and now must start sifting through the files in order to figure out who will be among in the group of candidates who proceed to the reality show round of the competition, where they will be whittled down to an even-smaller group of four finalists.

Anyone 18 or older may apply via video but there is an application fee that ranges depending on the wealth of the applicant's home country - $38 for U.S. applicants.

The money from the application fees will fund the mission [oh yeah?], and given the number that have already applied, they could have raised anywhere between $390,000 and $5,850,000 already.

In the last stage when 24-40 candidates have been fully trained and qualified, the final decision of choosing the first settlers will be decided by an audience vote.[WTF?]

Mars One says it is not necessary to have military training nor experience in flying aircraft nor even a science degree. Candidates must: be at least 18 years of age, 'Have a deep sense of purpose, willingness to build and maintain healthy relationships, the capacity for self-reflection and ability to trust', Candidates will receive a minimum of eight years extensive training while employed by Mars One, any formal education or real-world experience can be an asset, all skills required on Mars will be learned while in training

Former NASA researcher Norbert Kraft, Mars One’s medical director, said: ‘Gone are the days when bravery and the number of hours flying a supersonic jet were the top criteria for selection.

'Now, we are more concerned with how well each astronaut works and lives with the others – and for a lifetime of challenges ahead.’

Mars One aims to raise money to help fund the project through a long-running, global, reality TV show, which will select the first 24 candidates and follow their training.

Viewers would vote for who should be on the first team of four to leave Earth in ten years time. By 2033 the colony would reach 20 settlers."

Anyone else got a million alarm bells ringing over this whole idea?

If you are going to be sending colonists to Mars, surely the only people to be considered are those with practical survival skills (eg. engineering for repair work needing done). A team of four to leave for Mars? Four is far, far too small a number for it to work - all it would take is for any one of them to take ill & that's a quarter of their team down. They don't even appear to know the journey time correctly - NASA have already said it would take a space vehicle on current technology nine months, not seven to reach Mars.

This all looks to me like a Darien type expedition to me, ill-conceived, ill-thought out.

But if if was feasible, would any of you want to go? Not me. Live out the rest of my life on some barran planet inside an air conditioner steel or plastic frame? No fresh air, no birds in the trees? Sounds to me less like the opportunity of a lifetime & more like a punishment!

After the carry-on with Ollie being thrown off by the MyBB quack anti-spam system, & the long overdue removal last night of the disinterested Bat as "Super Administrator" (not posted here since December 2011 nor logged on since January 2013), it would be best if there was a third active moderator around here (if for no other reason than to let Ollie or anyone else banned in error back on if I'm not around to do so!).

The two conditions of acceptance is that you will be an active member here & that you are not & will not become a moderator of another Sims related forum at the same time.

(To be honest, there's little you'll need to do - the spam problem has been eradicated for a full year now & it's not as if we get overrun with trolls!)

So there's no moans of favouritism, the floor is open for you to say if you're interested.

(Which reminds me - Ollie, if you would rather not have your name in shocking pink, choose another colour!)

The Sims 4 is coming out!

I don't know if this is old news but I just read the sims 4 is coming out in 2014!
My first instinct when I read about this was to come back on here and post about it haha. I am hoping this was everyone else's instinct as well, that is if the old members of simsforums still like the sims. We now have something else to wait for, let's relive the days when we were waiting for sims 3 to come out!
