Full Version: A Question About Babies

I was just playing a game with a family of two, and wanted to have a baby. I the mother conceived one, had a completely perfect pregnancy, got to pick two traits, gave birth at home, all that. It wasn't the first time I've had babies on the sims.
The mother put the baby in the crib to sleep, and then later when the baby needed something, my game glitched. No one could go near the baby. No one could feed it, change its diaper, give it attention, nothing. I even called a baby sitter, and they couldn't even come inside the house!
Eventually the crying got so loud that the parents had to sleep on a park bench just to get away from it. The next day the social worker came and took the baby.

I really wanted to make a family, so I want to try again. But the mother isn't able to conceive, and the adoption agency won't let her adopt because of her first baby getting taken away.
My question is, how long do you have to wait to have another baby after you've had one taken away? I'm pretty new to the Sims 3, and I've looked online everywhere, I can't find an answer, so I came here Blush
It was the game glitch that messed things up. Do you have a back save you can use before this happened?

Something I was wondering about was the crib. Was this made by EA, or was this custom content? After Pets, anything that counts as furniture needed to be updated for the new animations, and the patch EA made of course did not alter any furnishings that weren't made by EA, which meant Sims being trapped on sofas, in beds, and so on. This could be why no one could get near the baby afterwards.

Why is the mother unable to conceive again?
The game I have actually is Pets. And yes, the crib was made by EA. It's the panda crib from the Sims store. And I'm really not sure, I thought it had something to do with getting the baby taken away. They didn't even have the try for baby option until two days later when they were done being sad about it, but then when they had It again tried and tried and she just can't concieve. Do I have to wait or something?
You shouldn't have to wait. There's people doing challenges that can get 12 babies in 80 days without cheats.

Try resetting her to see if that makes a difference. It ought not to, but with the last patch lots of things are a bit glitched right now (game crashes and so on).

To reset a Sim (just in case you don't know this one), first hold down Ctrl + Shift + C to open the game console at the top of your screen.

Now type resetSim Firstname Lastname and press enter, using the name of the Sim that needs to be reset.

Make sure everything is spelled correctly and exactly as shown in the game, including any spaces, or it won't work.

For example if Minty Green is stuck, type: resetSim Minty Green.

This will return the Sim to a spot on their home lot (not always where they were before!) with all their needs in the green. You don't have to be in control of a Sim to use this, so if any non-player Sims get glitched (eg. trapped in a closed door), you can stop them screwing up your entire game.

It may cancel their wishes, moodlets, etc. but that's a small price to pay for being able to still play on without penalties.

If you have saved the game at some point where you still have the baby, go back to it and try that on the baby.

Let us know how you get on.
