I know I'm not here much these days, but I saw this sad news - EA is finally shutting down Maxis, which has been creating Sims games since 1987!
Full story
here.
Nothing much left to shut, only one studio left & none of the staff. Another company bought & sold for EA gold withers & dies.
Won't be much longer before the big clear out in California. My local games store says they can't give away TS4 now after selling them no problem during Christmas.
Note to self: Don't work at "Maxis Melbourne" ever (although I'm pretty sure that's actually just
Firemonkeys) as I will be screwed over and left with no job (though I wish I would've realized it was in Melbourne last year, would've been an interesting place to do work experience if accepted). xP
It's a shame for the developers that are now out of a job but it's no surprise. Big companies gobbling up smaller companies and then ruining them happens all over the place does it not.
