SimPE is complicated to explain, I'll try and find the tutorial I read to get her back, but I can't remember how I did it, it was kind of a long time ago for me.
I think you can get her back with the InSimenator though. Do you have that? You can get it here if you don't:

Once you've got that in your game, you need to find the option in the pie menu that says 'Spawn', and then choose 'The Summoner' or something of the sort. Then using that, you can find Bella Goth in the menu and she'll come back without dieing. Make sure you do this while you're in Pleasantview though, because that's where she is. There are two Bella's, one is in Strangetown, and she isn't the real one.
Here's some pictures so you know which is the right one.

You know, I've never once played the "storyline" thing. So I have no clue what you're talking about...but I do know that Cassie's way of getting Bella is correct...I read it in a tutorial somewhere.

I got her back with SimPE, I had to modify her memory and everything, but my friend wanted to have Bella in his game, and for ages he'd had the Fake Bella thinking he'd found her long ago. So I did the InSim method and it worked, so I assume everyone else will be able to do it, or at least, I hope.
