Ok, so I kind of want this thread to become "The Official Thread for fastening your computer for the sims".

Y'see, My computer is about 2 years old (I Think. I got it just pets came out) and since then, i've upgraded the computer twice since then, both times with RAM and a NEW video card, plus some other extra's. And now, i have 2gigabytes of RAM, and a more than capable Video card. But for the sims, it is STILL not enough!

And since I want every TS2 ep, Apartment life may well and truly be the point for ANOTHER upgrade (I just got one for FreeTime!) and I really don't want to spend any more money at all, basically because I've spent about 1,000 dollars (NZ) on upgrades, and the computer was 1,500 dollars in the first place. Not to meantion all of the EP's that keep piling on top of each other! (around 700 dollars again, not including TS1) And I don't have TOO much CC (2,737 files, 1.28 Gigabytes)

Of course, i'll uninstall all of them for TS3 *sobs* (It'll be allright then, TS3 wont take up much space at all!) but until then, I need tips on cleaning out my computer. I've already Deleted the first 3 maxis hoods from the basegame! Well, i've actually deleted Riverblossom aswell now, since I'm "redoing" the game, and once i've done that, i'll delete the Neighbourhoods folder, and start completely new with my modified game. once i've done that, the game will be slow and laggy again.

I guess it's not TOO bad, I just want to sort it all out before I get AL and Ikea stuff, and those completely destroy the game of something! Smile

So do you have any Tutorials on cleaning out and making your computer go faster?
I want loads of answers, so people with problems too can resort to this thread!
you can try deletinf files you don't need from your computer
also right-click your local disk (in "my computer") press properties and then disk cleanup
you can also (from "properties") click "tools" (above) and then defragment now
hope this can help you
Thanks a lot!

But I can't defragment anymore, I have too much used space on my drive! Sad

But i'll try the rest!

mua ha ha randomness!
try deleting stuff you don't need so you'll have more space on your drive
also close background programs
A disk defrag should help (there must be some stuff you can delete off your HD?!).
Other things to try;
- As TV_Freak said, make sure there are no memory hungry background application running (in windows, press 'ctrl' + 'alt' + 'del' and in the 'task manager' order application by memory useage).
- This is probably your best bet. Try turning down the resolution and details of the Sims game itself, that will help make it run faster even though it won't look quite as good.

Hope that helps!
