Wouldn't it be pretty awesome for townies to have families? Like having a family trees. I always found it weird the  townie kids in The Sims 2 had no parents, if you called them and they were at school, just a random townie would answer the phone.

Like you can go up to a townie and there would be an option Ask...Do you have a family? and the sims would answer "Yes my spouse name is .... and I have 3 kids yadayadayada"

and when you marry a townie you can be linked in their family tree.

i like that idea... the "ask about family" thing should be available for any sim...
it could also be like an option to ask if a sim is involved in a romantic relationship...

I'm pretty sure, that it will be like that in Sims 3. Because townies will act on their free will in Sims 3, and have children and such. And then, probably also a family tree. It'll be nice

Townies will have children,families,and homes it said so in a 1up interview.They also said sims will have neighbors who will be able to do these things also.
