Why Wont The Sims2 Work? {cursing} {cursing}
First up, make sure that you?ve downloaded and installed the most recent `Patch? for the game. There may be a conflict with the particular components in your PC which a patch has included a fix for.
Second, make sure you don?t have any `virtual drive? software installed on the PC. If you do have any then the copy protection in Sims 2 will stop the program from running. Virtual drive software comprises programs which allow you to `mount? the image of a CD on your hard drive and load it from there more quickly than from a CD drive. You don?t need to be running Sims 2 from such an `emulated? drive ? the mere fact of its presence on your system will cause copyright protection to kick in. Software which uses such things can include CD burning software like Nero or EasyCD, Disc copying software such as CloneCD, emulation software such as Daemon Tools and many, many others. In some instances you can disable drive emulation in program settings. Other programs may need to be uninstalled. Some such programs may even need to have the Registry `cleaned? after their removal!
Finally, if the Sims 2 disk is a copy rather than a legitimate retail one then it won?t work.
Failing any of those causes then the problem is quite likely to be related to your computer itself. All device drivers, particularly those for the motherboard and display card, need to be the latest ones available and need to be installed correctly. Your system needs to be in good order, so if there are any other problems they would need to be resolved first. And, of course, if your display card or on board video doesnt?t support the `Hardware Transform and Lighting? feature then it would be impossible to run Sims 2 on it. Are you sure that your display is adequate?
