I recently had a technical issue with the sims 2. It crashes after theĀ  ea screen or just would not load at all. I resolved that issue and now I do not have the pleasantview neighborhood that i normally play and ALL of my sim families are missing. How do I find them and the plesantview neighborhood. am I screwed. My laptop is brand new and meets all the requirements I have no idea how to resolve this. I am currently running all of the expansions outside of the seasons and pets.. I also have all the stuff packs. Do I have to uninstall and start over.. Please say NO>>>>Help Me!!!! {cursing}
I've heard of this before ...

You shouldn't have to reinstall, but I forget now how to fix it ... ugh! Sorry I can't be more help Sad
See if this link helps you: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/27960-...ghbourhood

But instead of Veronaville, you need Pleasantview which is N001, not N003.

Hey!

Sorry to hear you are having problems with the game! Isn't it a pain when technology doesn't work right?!?! I hate it, lol!

Is your computer a HP computer? Try this thread. You may have a shortcut assigned to those keys. If you have an HP, search the internet to see if you can find what program this shortcut is assigned to and then remove them.

The missing neighborhood is Veronaville, and should be numbered N003.

Copy ( not move ) the file to the sims file in EAGames in you documents
folder, under neighborhoods.

Taken from here.
Let me know if that works.

It depends on what has happened with that folder. Hopefully not!

Let me know how it all goes! If you have any other questions, be sure to ask!
Thanks BAT!!!! The info you provided for the shortcut issue worked. but i guess i lost all my previous families because the folder thing restored pleasantview but not the families. Quick question. If I was using free time should i be looking in that folder or what? that was the last expasion pack i added before i upgraded to apartment life. I am desperate here. I had a whole neighborhood full of sims and many were platinum status...(if you know what i mean) lol. I really dont want to start over.. Im having a tantrum here... Please help....Thanks! is there anywhere else I can look for my saved sims.... i guess i should have had a back up huh... <<<<kicking myself!!!
If the neighborhood folder was gone, then, yes, you unfortunately lost the sims in that neighborhood because they are stored in their respective neighborhood folders in the "My Documents" folder.

Check your Recycle Bin to see if the folder ended up in there. If it did, restore the folder.

If not, you could possibly restore your computer so that you could have that folder back.

Let me know. I can provide some assistance either way you go.
ok... the folder was still there i just added copied the other folder and it promted me to replace or keep both... i chose replace..but none of my families were there
What folder was there? The one in the recycle bin?
im sorry the n001 folder was still in there i just copied and replace it....was that what i should have done..keep in mind i am working with vista
