To things that the Sims 2 didn't have that would be a bonus:
1. SDK. A lot of games come with the ability to customize the game. Building documented "hooks" into the software and/or tools would allow Simfans to create a much better range of custom content. I never found any documentation on how to create custom objects for the Sims 2 other than basic recolours.
2. Something that would be really great, but possibly too difficult, would be the ability to import a scanned photo (or maybe two - one front, one profile) and have Bodyshop analyze the image and create a Sims character that resembles the photo. This would require some serious image processing skills though.
