I can't seem to throw a "good time" party. I always end up having a "not bad" one. I'm guessing throwing a party in Life stories is the same as in Sims 2. So can anyone tell me some good tips to throw a good party?
Please and thank you Smile
Try making sure you're talking to everyone.  Chat at least once, with every sim you invite.

Buy a game of some sort - a group activity that everyone can join in.

Make sure there is Food.  Sims loooove to eat at parties.

That's the best I can offer, lol.  I've only had a few Good Time parties.
I always have great parties 'cause I only invite one sim to the actual party but invite others just regularly to make it more party-like. I chat it up the most with the one invited (:

Hehe
Congrats on the roof raiser!

Something no one mentioned (At least I don't think...) is that the party score is based off of the relationship points earned during the party so the more relationship growth, the better the party.
