I know mac is supposed to be released at the same time as windows. but all the preorder links on the sims website seem to be for windows only, not mac. it doesn't make sense that they're being released at the same time... if I can only preorder for one.
As far as I am aware, the Sims 3 disc will play for both Windows and Mac, so there will not be 2 different versions, only the one.
but, thats impossible, unless there are 2 versions on 1 cd. a mac will not run a .exe install file, and windows will not run a .dmg install file.
I find it hard to believe both versions are on 1 cd. that would just be too big for 1 cd.
Both are on the same cd.
If you look at the corner of all the boxes is says "win.mac"
so it doesn't really matter where you preorder from because it will be able to work on both. There isn't going to be one specifically for mac or specifically for windows.

... which is.. AWESOME =D
i own the sims 2 and the expansion packs but now i only have a macbook and sadly can't play them. i hate how they're OS specific.. i understand why.. but as a paying customer's perspective it's annoying.

It is possible. And it's actually a DVD, which can hold about 7 GB, so it is able to hold both.

There is no need to put "two" verions on one disc to be able to install the game on mac and windows. they simply need to put install files for both versions on the disk, in addition to the game itself. it's the installation process that differs not the game. that's why i'm a bit annoyed that not more games run on mac. as you can see, it's not much of a deal to make a game playable on mac.
