Looking at the name, you can tell I'm a noob. I can't remember where I stumbled across The Sims 3 video preview awhile back but it peaked my interest to say the least. Fast forward to this past weekend when I caught another glimpse of the game online. After Googling Sims 3 Forums, this was the best looking forum I found in the top 5 results. So here I am.

With that said, I'm not here to ask if my system will run the game. I run most games on high and get 30-60 FPS. Why I am here is to better understand the game before it's release in a couple of weeks. I understand the game but want to know what I'm getting out of the box. I read where you can download new towns, furniture, etc. Is this extra you purchase besides the expansions later on? Do I have the option of just creating my friends and family and having the game throw the others into the mix? Or do I create everyone myself?

That's all I have for now. I'm sure I'll be able to add more questions later.

You can most certainly create your family and friends. The game comes with residents in some of the houses, but if you like you can move them out and move in your own Sims.
