I really think that it's the amount of karma that you have that allows you to become an "adult sim" or so on instead of a "baby sim."
This is because maybe in your situation less is more. I have posted A LOT but still I don't have the same rank as you. So obviously it's not the posting. If you posted 20 things that all got karma that would probably raise your stars by 2. I think that 10-20 karmas = 1 star. But this is just a guess, but I know for a fact that it has 2 do with karma.
Actually it is the amount of posts you make that affects your position/rank. I have been up about 5 ranks and each had a specific post count where I went up.
