I stared at myself with disgust... I was a splitting image of my mother as a teenager and I hated it. I was always being compared to my mother and how great she was as a child. I never once was applauded for my own self. It always had to do something with or about my mother. I could feel her presence even when she wasn't there. I was living in my own personal hell. I desperately wanted to change myself and become my own person.
I paced out of my room and went straight for my parentâs bedroom. I picked up my moms purse and pulled out her wallet and took out all the cash she had. I went to the mall and picked out the clothes that suited my personality best.

Once I was back home and changed to how I felt comfortable, I wandered outside. My house was in the 'suburbs' of Riverview. My mother wanted me to be a famous singer... Which was her dream. I constantly have to practice my vocals and my guitar or I'll be grounded. She keeps telling me its my dream... But it isn't. I love music and all, but I'd rather be in a band with my friends or something. Not a singer. I hate singing. I might even want to be a doctor or something... But I'm to stupid for that job.

I plopped down on the swing not bothering to actually do it. My backyard was so normal but we were the farthest thing from normal. Why couldn't I have my own life? It felt like I was sharing it with a thirty-eight year old woman. All these terrible thoughts were running through my head and I needed out of this house now.

As I was walking out of the yard, I peaked into my room to find my mother in there. I couldn't even have my own room because o her! She always was in there, either painting or setting it up to the way that SHE liked it. I couldn't get ride of her. I wished that I was and adult and that I was able to leave this place.

Of course my fathers always on the computer or in front of the god damn TV. He could careless about the problems between me and my mother. Which pissed me off to the fact that I wasn't caring about him any more.

I finally made my way over to the park and pulled out my guitar. Even though my mom was forcing me to play it everyday doesnât mean I donât like it. Iâd rather play my rock versions then the prissy songs she wants me to play.

While I was playing, I saw a figure walk in the corner of my eye. I knew who it was it was my best friend, Bob Newbie. He didnât know this but I had a very big crush on him. âHey Betty, whatâcha up to?â Bob questioned as he pulled me into a very friendly hug. âOh nothing much, just messing around with my guitar, the usual.â I smiled back to him.

When to two of us are together, we usually have the best of times. I have so many memories from being with him and just screwing around.

After awhile of hanging out with Bob, my phone buzzed. I already knew who it was. I pulled it out seeing I had a new text from my mother. Betty, You need to get home a.s.a.p. Iâm making dinner and the least you could do is show up.
âWas that your mom?â Bob asked, already knowing the answer. âSadly yes⦠Iâve got to go now because the queen is making dinner. Iâll see you tomorrow at schoolâ¦.â I gave him a brief hug and ran home.

I opened the door and went into the living room to find my dad watching TV. What a shockerâ¦. âHey pumpkin, where have you been?â He asked mono-tone like. He didnât care because he wouldnât reply back. I just walked into the bathroom to wash up for dinner because girls have to be prim and properâ¦.

Dinner was always awkward at my house. My dad would always have an ear on the TV, never having a conversation with me or my mother. So that leaves me to have to deal with her yet again.
âHoney, you know I found a job open for you at the theater. Donât worry, I already sent your application in so you didnât have to worry about it.â She laughed with a smile. This make me chock a little on my food. I didnât even want a job. She made me boil with anger when she did stuff like this.
I just got up and didnât bother to finish my meal⦠I went straight for bed.
