I wish you could have one night stands. There is no spur of the moment anything in the sims 2. They need to have some things that aren't controllable. Everything seems planned out: pregnancies, marrages, woohoos, getting pregnant, dating. I wish that you could have kids but not be married, or date instead of marry. I mean, there are some things that would make it more realistic.

You can you know, if you don't mind cheats. Or you could always adopt.
You don't have to marry to have kids in the Sims 2 and you can date without marrying
You don't have to be married to have children, have Woohoo in the Bed, Car, Hammock (Bon Voyage), Tent (Bon Voyage), Spa, ect. You also don't have to be married to date someone, you date which gets you ready to get married (If you wish to of course!)
Ya, u can date without gettin married. But i want the relationships to b more intense wen it cums to love ;D
