My best friend just called me.

Their house burnt down.  And I don't mean just one room.  The entire house is GONE.  2 of their cats and their 2 rats are dead, 1 cat is still missing but they think he got out the front door as the fire men were breaking it down to get in.  She and her fiance were out christmas shopping, her brother said he heard an explosion from her bedroom, then a huge cloud of smoke started billowing out of their bedroom.

The house was on the news a few moments ago, it's just ... gone.  Everything they owned, christmas gifts they'd just bought, pictures and precious memories all up in smoke.  The upside is that they have amazing insurance, and though it might take a year or so, they have agreed to rebuild their house.  And the fire department has given them the information needed to try and get as much of their stuff, if not all of it, replaced as possible.

So please ... keep them in your thoughts, and maybe say a prayer for the pets lost too if you would.
That's so sad Sad
I hope everything goes well for them!
O;
That is really sad.
I hope they are okay and I hope the future is better for them.
Oh my goodness Jen. I'm pretty shaken up by this. My thoughts indeed go out to them, and I feel deeply saddened for the pets, I hope they didn't suffer too much!

It must feel like their whole world has just been stamped on...I can't imagine what they are going through right now. I hope they can get back on their feet as soon as possible.

I hope you are okay though Jen, as I know there are a few things going on with your life at the moment, and I hope this doesn't add to the stress of it all.
omg, this is sad. I feel sorry for them and especially the pets! At least they still have each other right? thats what its about in Christmas but loosing their home just now? I do hope that all goes well for them.

That is absolutely horrendous. I cannot imagine the grief and distress they're going through right now. What an appalling time for it to happen to.
At least nobody perished in the fire, even though I know their pets are gone [and pets can feel like humans sometimes - when my cat dies, I'll be broken; laugh, I don't care].
And at least they'll have a house again soon. They won't be homeless. If they have good strength and optimism then things may be easier for them.
I'll keep them in my thoughts tonight. They have my condolences.
Here is a brief News Article about the fire.

That is incredibly sad. But I'm glad they are okay. Wowww. I will.

Okay, so I just got off the phone with her again.  1 Cat is still suspected dead.  And both rats for sure.

1 Cat MIGHT still be alive, the kitten, they just haven't found her yet.  The other missing cat mentioned earlier as well as all others have been counted for.  3 are Hospitalized and one might not making it through the night - he inhaled the flames and has severe burning to his lungs and eyes.  There are no walls where her and her father's bedrooms were and the attic collapsed in one area also.

They are still investigating, but they suspect faulty wiring in the TV that caused the start of the fire.  It was an old TV so I wouldn't be surprised.  And since the rats cage sat directly behind the TV ... they didn't stand a chance when it went up.

So ... that's what I know as of now.  The cat the might die is my cat's twin brother ;__; His name is Patches, say a prayer for him, please!
