what does that mean, like some sort of fog like its an empty space where the egg was?

That means my egg isn't showing for you yet, is all.

I had a lot of my eggs/hatchlings fogged because they were sick, I just recently unfogged them, so they may still show up as fogged for you for a little while still.

aww it got sick. you're not a bad parent. my eggs got sick all the time. it will be better in a day or so.
