It would kind of be like in the Sims 2 University, where you had one common household name (in which bills are payed under or whatnot) but then each individual person can have a different last name

Yeah, but even outside of the college-Sims. For just normal families and such.

I always used the college for this.. but it was so infuriating. Because then I couldn't have the sims have parents. I found a way around it all eventually, with some making a sim just to mary another sim so I could kill the new sim off so that the one sim could have the last name of the new sim... So they could go marry another sim with kids who I wanted to keep their last name but the mother to take his. All because I wanted his mother to actually raise him and his twin from toddlers up...
So I am ALL for this.
