Okay then, it might not be your drivers. Here's some tips that may help. If not, I'll think of some more...

Do you have the latest patch for the game?
Do you have any downloads in your downloads folder? If so, take them all out and see if it'll run.
Have you tried another family? The one you tried might be corrupted if its the only one that won't load.
You may want to delete the cache files by going to Documents/EA Games/Sims 2 and find the .cache files, delete those and try again

See if those help you.

Go here.

Select the game "The Sims 2-PC".

Go ahead and run it.

If all checks out, let us know. If something doesn't check out, let us know.

My bet is that your graphic card isn't compatible or doesn't meet the minimum specs and that is causing the game to crash.

^ Aye, good suggestion.

I also forgot to say is in the neighborhood screen, adjust your graphic settings to the lowest settings possible and see if it runs. If it does, then your computer isn't up to the regular specs which would cause the game to crash.

Or, the graphic card may not be supported.

No problem!

Also, perhaps that house is corrupt or too big to handle? It's possible. One of my friends had that happen. The computer, we are talking a monster computer, couldn't handle the house. It would freeze up.

Uggghhh....I was able to go into a different house...sorry for wasting time on all that other stuff....is there anything I can do about the corrupted house???????????????

I'm also going to check and make sure I can get in again...it's been touch and go for the few days I've played...

Don't worry about it!

Well, you could try to move the family to the lot bin and then move them to a different lot.

Yeah, try moving the family into a different lot. If it crashes, then the family may be corrupt.

Maybe it was a fluke...I just went back in and was unable to get into a house...it locked up again!
