Do you have any virus protection? If so, disable it. If you don't have virus protection, how do you know you don't have viruses?

I don't know. I don't have anything to install. It's just weird I have never had this problem with Sim's before. But everything was going smooth yesterday until it got to 71%

It is weird. If I were you, I would send it back and get a new one. Not sure how Amazon works with that though.

It would be an easy way to test the disk. You should see if you can return it, for another copy.

I had the same issue. I worked with it for 3 days and finally just gave up and did a digital download from the EA website. It installed easily that way. Then I returned it, but most places won't accept open game returns so explain your frustration and tell them you downloaded it form the EA site out of frustration. I was then able to exchange it for an expansion pack. Not sure how Amazon would handle it though.
