I own The Sims 3.. And I play it a lot.. but I still play Sims 2.. why? two words: Expansions Packs...
I own all Sims 2 expansion packs (today I got my last (Nightlife) ), and thats the reason I still play it.. I think all expansion packs are awsome.. And they are..

Because it seems like TS3 likes to freeze up when I'm playing it and TS2 doesn't do that.
But I haven't been playing any Sims lately.

Right now, at this very moment I am installing the Sims 2. Nothing major. I got bored with Sims 3, plus I changed my computer and I don't have room for my graphic card, therefore Sims 3 looks crappy(no shadows and no grass).
And uh, I missed Sims 2. Glad I didn't sell them. <3

I got my game back up and running, and am loving it {clap} I'm doing a lot in my game that I've never done before. My sims are Witches and they're running their own Bakery now, too! It's a lot of fun ^_^

It's a lot of fun! I turned my Bakery into a Market, they sell the produce they grow from their garden now too

I haven't played The Sims 2 in a long time but I really miss it
I want to play it again because I love the characters, expansion packs, custom content etc. There both great but niether of them will ever replace the other. I need both

Well for starters my laptop doesn't run sims3 that well but after I ended up having a crack at sims3 for a week on the bf's laptop and I got to say, I was very much missing number 2 by the end. I think I just wasn't using it very well, it's cool i can walk literally EVERYWHERE but...why should I? So I didn't, trying to use the whole gamelot was a bit....foreign I guess. I don't like the moodlet system or the overall graphics of the game. Don't get me wrong, it's lovely and I've seen some great stuff from it but *I* could never make my game look that good.
sims 2 is just the game for me I guess.
