It looks kind of lame now only because we have S2 to compare it to, and obviously one is better than the other. But I'm sure it was a fantastic starting point for most people before S2 blew it out of the water.
I, myself, don't have S1, and after discussing it with some members here, I don't plan on getting it (especially with S3 around the corner). So, obviously, I don't play S1 at all. But I play S2...quite a bit

Hehe, no I wouldn't advise you to get TS1 now either! Definately not with TS3 round the corner and TS2 to play with! I can totally see how it would look lame to people who have never played it; it does look completely lousy compared with TS2! But it still was never a terrible game. Terrible + Sims = Impossible in my opinion. But I can completely see what you mean.

I barely play the sims anymore. In my hayday I played ALL THE FREAKING TIME. Especially in the summer. Whats funny is, normally people associate sitting inside and playing computer games with weight gain. But I lost weight...because I didn't stop to eat. Hahahaa.

I played Sims 1 for about 10 minutes last night.
I was actually just testing it to see if it worked with my new computer. And, obviously, it did.

I played TS1 more than I play TS2... but I think this is due to the fact that as I got older, the more my life has been consumed with homework/detentions and socialising etc... I don't have quite so much time anymore, whereas while TS1 was the main focus, I would play for hours a day as I had lots of freetime on my hands.

Sometimes I try and shift other (some what important) things out of the way to make room for things I want to do. I have more freetime than I honestly should.
