Another thing that annoys me is when people get there phone out in class and start to text someone who is at their school and someone they see around the school. I mean c'mon, its not like you can't talk to them at recess. I get it if they have an appointment or something and then they have to find out when they have to go home but when your just talking to someone, its pathetic.

Well I think if they don't care enough to listen to what you are teaching, they shouldn't be allowed to stay in the room.

In my highschool if you got caught with a cell phone or a pager (pagers were the BIG thing when I was in school) it got taken away and if you wanted it back Only your Parents could come get it.  And then there would be a parent/teacher meeting and all that.

I think that's a little much. I say let them have cell phones on them, but I don't want to see them out in class.

Cell phones are allowed at school,but you can only use them for certain things like if you are calling for internships or to call your parents. If the teachers catch us texting they take it away till the end of the day and then calls your parents.

that's what I meant.  If you had them out in class without good reason. I knew a set of siblings who carried pagers with them and checked them whenever they'd buzz because their father was terminally ill, and needed to be able to be reached should something happen.  Teachers were okay with that, and didn't mind so much for those reasons.  But if it was just to show off how bad-ass you thought you were, that's different.

Also, this wasn't your average community school.  This was a school that you had to submit an application to get into, and be accepted. Not quite private school, but not exactly community either. So their rules were a little more strict.
