It's not consistent on where I can go...I was able to get into a house in Veronaville, but couldn't enter Strangetown.

You couldn't enter the neighborhood or you couldn't enter a house in that neighborhood?

And the original house we were discussing was in what neighborhood?

Did you try to run the game in admin mode? Also, you might want to try to reinstall your game again, only this time take out your neighborhoods folder under Documents/EA Games/Sims 2 and place it else where so then you delete everything and then reinstall. Also, make sure no folders are left over except for the one you pulled and put in a separate place. Once you install it again, don't replace the neighborhood folder just yet and run the game and see if it crashes.

And I'm also curious as to what neighborhood you originally had the problem with. Did you ever try a custom neighborhood?

Neighbourhoods do become bugged. Even after uninstalling and reinstalling. Then after the hood has been replaced, it still can't be played.
I do beta testing for a creator and sometimes you just have to dump the hood. This is why I have restarted each hood several times.  Smile

Just follow the instructions in this link to replace the hood (Strangetown) in question.

I'm able to enter Veronaville...where my house is built, but not my house, just one other one. 

I was not allowed to enter Strangetown(ville??) at all.

I'm not sure about the moving the saved folder information...sounds good, but I'm not sure I know how to do that.

I haven't tried the last commentor's website yet...

I tried what Heather suggested, but I'm still not able to go into all houses in Veronaville.  I didn't try to go anywhere else...a lot of time is wasted once the computer locks up...it's strange that the mouse can still move and the music continues playing,  but nothing happens!

I'm close to giving up...thanks for all the help...maybe something will work!?

Oh, I know how that feels. My suggestion is just keep looking around google for the answer time to time. Also, try contacting EA support. I know EA isn't the *best*, but they have helped me in the past with problems.

Melissa, if the game freezes on a screen, but the music and the mouse still move, the game cannot open up what you are trying to open. I can't think of anything that we can do to further assist you.

I guess the next step would be to add more RAM to your computer. Although, I am fairly confident that the house is corrupt.
