all my hatchlings grew up so i went ahead and bred them. therefor i got another guardian egg

Eggs won't hatch any sooner than 3 days, and I think Hatchlings are similar.
So until you get under 3 days, don't worry about them so much :3 Just keep advertising on LiveJournal once or twice a day (remember 8-12 hours apart if twice a day) and they'll be fine.

There is no exact number.
I've seen eggs hatch with as few as 11 clicks, and others with as many as 30.
Check the FAQ Witchie wrote back on Page 3 of this thread. It explains further.
