It's about futuristic America in ruins, split into 13 districts, controlled by the Capital. In a rebellion, District 13 was obliterated.
To keep the other districts from trying to rebel, the Capital has 'The Hunger Games' every year: a live, televised event in which one male and female aging from 12-18 from each district is thrown into an arena and forced to kill each other off until one remains.

Well, you should read this one. I got the third one Saturday (the last one) and it was AMAZING.
I was sobbing all night long. I almost lost it at school today too, when i was reading my friends copy XD
