You guys should be sure to include SPOILER at the top of your posts x3    LoL  or in the Subject since the thread now includes actual opinions and PIECES of the movie.

Sure, many of us have read the book but they always do some things different in the movies.  So, like ... just put a nice bit

S P O I L E R

At the top of your threads if you're going to be mentioning something about the movie other than how much you loved it perhaps?

I don't think we really need to worry about spoiler tags in the official thread, though, do we? I mean, it's a bit obvious we'll be discussing the film from the title of the thread, right? Of course if people really want us to then that is fine. Smile

Btw, the film leaked. Quality is okay.

I know... I was just about to join in, until he said the following sentence. {unsure}

At least Niall loved it. I have yet to know someone not like it, although occasionally more of the avid fans are a bit let-down on all the plots it missed [I'm annoyed too, but really, the epicness of the film is more than enough for me to disregard it].

I'm so damn happy. I'm seeing the film again tonight. Not in the cinema though, at home. In good quality. EEEEP. I loves being a leecher. 8)

ETA; LOL, the new PPP was brill. When he said he was at the ball with Lily Evans, I thought he said Lee Evans the first time, and it was an awkward image. -_-

What plotlines do they leave out?? I read the book a long time ago...

Re: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince Official Thread - bambigoddess - 18-07-2009 11:40 PM

Ooooh, a lot. But to name a few:
- the Gaunt story line, involving Tom Riddle Sr., Merope Gaunt, Marvolo Gaunt, etc.
- the epic battle at Hogwarts toward the end involving the Death Eaters
- several memories involving various people
- a lot of H/G and R/L/Hr stuff (also, Michael Corner was never present, and you never see Ginny break up with Dean)
- the beginning with the other minister (the muggle one) and Rufus Scrimgeour. The only mention to Scrimgeour is in the paper Snape is reading at the beginning.

There are a lot of other bits that were left out, but I think those were the main ones.

Also, as a side note, I tried looking for the diadem in the RoR, but I couldn't find it anywhere. Tongue

As far as the more avid fans being let down by all these omissions, that's rather stupid of them, honestly. I mean, really, I'd like to see how they'd work it out to fit everything into 2 and a half hours. Don't get me wrong, I'm a little annoyed with some of the cuts, myself, but it's not worth throwing a fit over. It was exceptionally well done, especially with all things considered. Personally, I would have loved it if they had turned this movie into two installments like they're doing with 7, but I guess that's not really practical. Besides, I personally think it was an excellent portrayal of the book as far as movie versions go. It's harder than it seems trying to cut out what's not necessary but also make it relatively easy for fans who haven't read the books to understand, as well as keep it entertaining so it doesn't drag. I think the end result was absolutely amaying, though there are a few things they'll have to clear up in the 7th movie. But I'm sure they'll manage. Smile
