Actually,
I read in one of the magazines that they will be able to have part-time jobs in cafes or bookstores and restaraunts. I think it will be possible to have 2 jobs because of the work-a-holic trait. You can extra siniority by doing extra things for the boss, they may even pay ya even more.

Oh yes!That has been one of my pet peeves! Why my sim can't get a part time job in addition to his full time job, or two full time jobs.
