Lauren I think that's why she's asking, seeing as not all things from the sims 2 have been carried over.

That's a good question! I know they have said that you could own businesses, but that it wouldn't be the same as OFB. There might be a special podium or certain thing like in the sims 2 that designates it as a restaurant. And im thinking if you could  buy one to own, you should be able to build one. It could involve a cheat too, like the dorms in uni. I guess we won't know until june.

i think its pretty much a given that u will be able to build community lots as well as residential

hmm now i understand... well like in the sims to when u want to build a lot u select weather u want it to be a community lot or a residential lot so u would select community and the way u turn it into a restaurant in the sims 2 is you must have a podium and the little kitchen set. Maybe in the sims 3 there will be a more specific option to make it a restaurant but i think if there is not it will just stay how it is in the sims 2.

From the parts I have read on many websites and previews, is that in many careers you can become the boss of the company. If you are in the catering career then you might be able to take over a restaurant.

At release I do not believe you can build restaurants and run it like we saw in "Open for Business", this is expect will be part of a new expansion pack.

I'm sure you'll be able to build a restaurant, but it probably won't work like something from OFB where your sims could own it and run it.  But I'm sure you'd be able to build one just to play in.

altho im upset at the sims 3 team for not like putting all the basic ep in the base game like pets nightlife ofb and so on
