Introducing The Sims Times - A New Fictional Sims Newspaper Website!

Hey guys-

We are receiving a lot of submissions to be on the staff. This is great news. We really enjoy seeing everyone's creative writing ability.

Unfortunately we are having email problems and are having some difficulty with getting to the submissions. Don't fear, your time spent writing that well thought out article will not go to waste. We will be able to view all of the latest submissions as soon as our email is back online. In the mean time, be sure to constantly be checking out The Sims Times for the latest in sims news.

I just checked out the Times site; it's a very cute idea! I know a lot of Sims lovers like every opportunity to flex their creative muscle. I would sign up myself if i still had The Sims 2 installed (I probably won't be simming again until The Sims 3 comes out). Anyway, onto my suggestions!

I see that currently the sections are Business, Crime, Current Affairs, Health, Politics, and Sports. If you're looking for more ideas, take a look at a regular newspaper. Two things I think would make a great addition would be Comics and Ads.

Comics Section: Set up just like a regular comics page, with each comic having three panels. The creator would make a little set in-game, with a very basic background (like a white painted wall) and design original characters or even recognizable ones from the paper (in mocking). The screenshots could then be turned black & white and arranged into the panels.

The layout of the comics page could have the most popular writers' creations at the top, and new writers' comics at the bottom. People could vote on their favorite writer or particular strip!

Ads Section: You might be thinking, I don't want ads on my site! But that isn't exactly what I mean. I mean comical Sims ads: a shot of an in-game "product" and an amusing description about it. Or to make it more challenging, writers could be assigned in pairs or team up on occasion, so that one would need to come up with a product, take a screenshot, and the other would then have to come up with what it does and how to advertise it.

Nice ideas, I like them! I'd also thought of a similar idea for fake advert but hadn't thought of a good way to implement them.

Good idea about the comic too, we'll have to see if anyone comes up with any ideas for strips!
