Trying to recover from the party the neighbours had last night which meant I wasn't getting a wink of sleep.

They'd finally all lost consciousness round about 5am, as it all went quiet when whatever headache music stopped at that point. No stirrings from them this morning.

Think I'll play something on the stereo this afternoon to soothe their hangovers with. Now where did I leave that Motorhead's Greatest Hits album.

They should have invited you, Minty, if they were planning to keep you awake anyway! If I was not invited to a neighbour's rowdy party I'd be tempted to call noise control. For some reason the noise control people at our council are one of the most effective departments. A friend told me that she knew someone who was served with a notice of a fine at about 11.05 pm, because her washing machine was audible outside her flat - which means that they must have been alerted and waiting outside her flat, just waiting for her to contravene the house rules of no noise after 11pm and with the notice all written out and ready to pop through the letterbox!

While playing loud music you should also get out there with a lawnmower or some kind of other loud gadget, while singing at the top of your voice and possibly clash a few metal bin lids

Hmmm I think some of my neighbours took a leaf out of the book of Minty's neighbours last night. I was treated to some delightful drunken chit-chat from their wide-open windows. After listening to hours of giggling and deep analysis, I can reliably inform you all that Beyonce makes the best music videos. Ground-breaking stuff. Fortunately their guests must be nesh and needed to close the windows after that revelation, so I didn't have to listen to the next topic.

They have thrown a lot of cigarette ends out onto the back lawn. Boooo!

There has not been a single noise from the neighbours at all for over 24 hours. Maybe they're all dead.

Should I check? Um no the silence is too nice. I'll wait until there's lots of flies buzzing around their windows before contacting the police or whatnot.

Must have been one hell of a party if they have 24 hangovers!

Dreaming on what might have been.

To think we were 1-0 up as well! Two Liverpool players in the squad, and we still bloody lost. Never mind - a cup final free of the Glasgow Ugly Sisters is always a good final, we did win a cup last year so can't be greedy, & there's always next season!
