The beginning reminded me of Great Expectations, although the ending is a bit bleak... but hey, that's a story for ya. I suppose it's like those children's tales with the unhappy kid who hates life until discovering something secret and being taken off into a wonderful new world, except, instead of being taken off into a wonderful new world, he is just killed. Maybe he knew the egg was dangerous, but he just wanted to end his life and take his mean old grandpa with him Tongue

Eh, this story could be interpreted a thousand different ways
Hey thank you so much for your nice review. I wrote this story in one afternoon when I was looking at a site on how to write short stories for children. I never entered the contest, I thought the ending was too scary.
I had to look up who Roald Dahl was. I had no idea he wrote Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. That is one of my all time favorite stories. Loved the movie with Gene Wilder. The new one is OK also, but I like the original better.
You know your literature.... smile... I have never read the book Great Expectations but I have seen the movie. Thank you for inspiring me to keep writing.
Simcerely,
Tasia Biggrin

P.S I love a unexpected and twisted ending.

Hi Caspin, Thank you so much for reading my story and leaving a nice comment. Biggrin Yes, I do have some more short stories to post. I hope to hear what you think of them.
Simcerely,
Tasia. Smile

(I can think of certain people that will be disappointed there wasn't a granny being eaten in the story!) Tongue

At the risk of sounding a wimp, this picture scared the crap out of me!

Hi there Minty, LOL that is crazy picture.. Thank you so much for reading my short story and leaving me a comment. I really appreciate the feedback. Clapping
I had no idea what or where Hebrides was, so I looked it up. Wow! Its about Scotland. That is cool. Now that I think of it the coast line in my story does resemble the coastline I viewed online. I love learning new things. One of my favorite singers in the world is from Scotland, Alley Kerr. Love his "Sore Feet Song".

Perhaps the next short story I write will have the dear sweet old granny getting gobbled up.. smile..
Thanks again,
Simcerely,
Tasia Tease
