So you think the Sims 3 will flop, do you?

I entirely disagree.

the reason i'm making this thread is because some people (and even myself, at times) think that this game might be a letdown, due to EA's "unlistenitivity" to their fans, and the fact that spore was so overhyped, it was a letdown once people got the game. here are a few reasons I think it will do just as good (or possibly much better) that it's previous titles.

1) Spore was an entirely new game, thus there wasn't already an extremely large fanbase for it. PLUS that game was overhyped it wasn't even funny. Most of the thing people were told they were getting didn't make it into the final game. The sims already has a large fanbase, with many anticipating persons waiting for it. Plus, most comments on youtube videos promoting the sims 3 are saying good things about the game, and I have reason to believe that a large portion of those comments come from people who are not already deeply involved with the sims franchise. Also, the Sims 3 has not been overhyped. We'll have known about it for 11 months once it's released, and that's not much compared to spore's 3 whole years. EA have handled the information sparingly, giving us a taste of what's gonna come, but not revealing all. Spore revealed all, and cut out most.

2) YouTube. If you can believe it, YouTube was founded in 2005 (i found this out a few weeks ago, and I was shocked, it has SOOOO many video's on it, it's unbelievable) and when the sims 2 was being hyped, EA, and other people didn't have access to this website. It's the second biggest website in the world, and I daresay that quite a lot of people have found out about the sims that way.

3) Communication. The web is getting bigger. expanding. More fansites are sprouting, old fansites are growing. It's much easier to find out about things, and to get involved. With the sims 1 & 2, these methods were there, but were much less used. Technology is getting more advanced. better. and I think it's fair to say that this is improving the actual sims games, as well as the fanbase. Smile

So altogether, I think The Sims 3 will be a hell of a lot of fun. Big Grin

Re: So you think the Sims 3 will flop, do you?
When the very first screenshots of TS3 came out, I was kind of dissapointed, to be honest..

I was thinking that a game as big as The Sims 3 would have looked waaaay better, but over the past few months, that has changed. All this new info we are getting is sooo amazing! I mean, it's just getting more and more realistic (in some ways) and there is so much we can do.

I don't believe it how some people think the characters looked better in TS2.

But anyway, I think this game is going to be a huge success!  Big Grin

I know! I wasn't disappionted though. i was amazed. I didn't know how they could've made the sims look even better, and keep their cartoony look.

And the seamless neighbourhood was a completely new idea I hadn't thought of before.
I didn't know how they could've improved the game really. They've really wowed me with this game! and i'm SOOO excited!

Why would they have lied about things? They don't need to. It's an almost completely perfect game! Big Grin

And so the hair is frozen. Lots of CC hair in the sims 2 was frozen, but people didn't complain about that, even though quite a few people used CC hair more than maxis hair.

I'm not really too fussed about hair..
All the hair did on TS2 was wobble a bit when they moved..

Re: So you think the Sims 3 will flop, do you?
I personally think it'll be amazing. Those who say it'll be a flop might compare TS3 to THE ENTIRE TS2 SERIES! That is, they compare a basegame to one basegame, eight expansionpacks and eight stuffpacks. TS3 will certanly have expasions as well (give me one reason that they shouldn't) so I see no reason that it shouldn't be fantastic. And those who say that TS2 looks better are probably those who have so much CC that they've forgotten what a clean game looks like (I know I got a bit surprised when I decided to go cold turkey on CC  Wink)

And those previews we've been given, both screenshots and videos (and I'm thinking mostly on the videos where Ben Bell is showing off the game to an audience), look so good. And the're not even finnished! I really look foward to what I belive will be the next golden age of The Sims  Big Grin
