The Official Nonsense Thread

RE: The Official Nonsense Thread
Cold up there, is it? Want to swap?! We seem to be having another mini heatwave at the moment and I'm sick of it. It's that awkward time of year when you see some people still in summer clothes and flip-flops walking alongside those who've jumped ahead and are in wool coats and scarves.

Very disheartening job-hunting there, Minty. Sad

I was listening to a woman on the radio this morning who can only find part-time jobs in her area, so is currently working three different ones. Other family members are doing the same so they hardly ever see each other because their crazy timetables can't be coordinated. All three jobs are so low paid that she doesn't pay tax. It's mind-boggling. One job is in retail and she has had her hours cut from 16 hours a week to 11 hours, but considers herself lucky because some people are only being given 3 hours per week. I'd imagine that the money you get for the first of those hours just about covers your travel to work. So depressing.

To try to cheer you up I can report that this morning I walked past that tree that had a lot of drunken bees flying around it a few weeks ago, to find that it now has a load of dead wasps beneath it. I don't know what that tree is up to, but it is certainly hazardous to health for flying creatures!

Last night I went to the NT to see Edward II by Christopher Marlowe. They had done a sort of partial modernising of the play and the set was very weird. I did not really enjoy it all that much - too many gimmicks. Poor old Edward II certainly game to a painful end - on a big plastic sheet, Dexter-style!

It was press night, so there were all these people sitting at the back with their notepads and iPads. I'd have thought they'd stick the journalists in better seats than that. I will be interested to read those reviews.

I saw a picture yesterday of this cathedral that they've built in Christchurch, New Zealand, after theirs was squished in the earthquake. It looks like a house of cards and in fact it is made of cardboard. It looks so nice when illuminated doesn't it!

I...

Am so proud of this thread. Holy moly. Years later and it STILL exists.

I love you all. Even though I don't know like any of you anymore. Why do people have to move on and leave and get busy with actual life stuff? Why can't we all just stay here forever and be besties?

<3 you all. Even if I've never spoken to you.

Hello Bambi and welcome back!
Yes, this is a whopping great big thread, isn't it. It's going to infinity and beyond! Biggrin

Life can be hectic, it's true, but if people just took a few minutes a day to visit the forum and chat about what they're up to, that would be nice. I get the impression that there are people out there who look at Sims Forums and think it looks quiet, so they don't post, but then it stays quiet. Be vocal, people!

Chatter Chatter Chatter Chatter Chatter

Otherwise you'll all be doomed to me jibber-jabbering away about 101 ways to cook with polenta and nobody really wants that to happen. Shocked

RE: The Official Nonsense Thread
Sad I'm sorry, Minty. Please don't hurt your tongue.

I'm so glad of today's rain. Yesterday it was terribly humid and it gave me a banging headache. By the time I got home I was good for nothing. It was fortunate that I was in a bit of a state, as I was able to completely crash out and go to sleep despite the adjacent neighbours continuing their renovations until well after 11.00 pm (outrageous!), a group of foxes playing "who can scream the loudest" in the back garden while they tormented some squirrels, a drunken individual singing from the top floor window and my downstairs neighbour breaking up loudly with someone by phone. She gets through more relationships than I do hot dinners. For a relatively peaceful neighbourhood, we don't half get some noisy nights. Oh well.

Fingers crossed for some peace and quiet tomorrow so I can play at being a virtual lifeguard. Smile

Note to Disney executives, the only Scots that say "Jinxs, crivvens, help ma boab!" are in Oor Wullie and The Broons (yes "Brave" is on the telly now!")

RE: The Official Nonsense Thread
Aw, I really liked "Brave", but then I do have a penchant for animated movies. It wasn't as good as "How To Train Your Dragon" though.

Maybe Disney should have a go at making a charming animated movie featuring Scousers. Biggrin

RE: The Official Nonsense Thread
Theatre night tonight. Clapping

I'm going to see a scary one this evening, or at least it has the potential to be scary. Going to see "Woman In Black"on the stage. It's been showing for 23 years so perhaps it'll be a bit dated but I quite like retro productions so I hope I'll enjoy it. Daniel Radcliffe did a great job in the film version last year, I thought, and it will be interesting to see how they create that level of dread and suspense in the theatre.

I just hope I don't jump around too much - I always manage to get shocked, even when I have seen the play or film many times before and know what is going to happen. It's really ridiculous. I can be sitting there thinking "OK here comes the bit where he gets shot, get ready, get ready, it's in a few seconds"....... "waaaaaah!" and then I jump out of my skin. Dunno
