For the sims 3 they say:
2.4 GHz P4 processor or equivalent
1.5 GB RAM
128 MB Video Card with support for Pixel Shader 2.0
For the sims 4 they say
AMD Athlon 64 Dual-Core 4000+ or equivalent
2GB RAM
128 MB of Video RAM and support for Pixel Shader 3.0
i tried this on my old pentium 4 3.4ghz ht with 3gb ram and 256mb video card for sims 3 and it didnt work...i mean it did but like on 10 fps all the time sometimes dropping to 1 fps..
So i tried on my more modern pc with 2gb ram core 2 duo 2.2ghz and 512mb video card..well it works but you need to lower the settings down alot(loading times are longgg even with SDD installed)
now for sims 4 like it says amd athlon 64 4000+ or equivalent so i tried 6000+ i had laying around with 1gb gddr5 video card and well it works but when u move around it laggs alot
so my question is will Intel Celeron G1840 in combo with Radeon R7 250X be enough to run both sims 3 and 4 on medium/high settings?

My Investigator Sim is attempting to to a Stakeout at the Industrial Science Plant in Twinbrook, but always jumps back to the home lot after maybe 1 second of attempt. I have no idea what's going on and how to fix it. I've tried asking on other sites but no one will help me.

I do have Twallan's mods and have uploaded the ScriptError file, but apparently no one there has any clue what's going on. I'm getting to the point of anger and frustration of people giving me the usual "hope you find a solution lol" answer.

Is there a solution to this? I've tried resetting the Science lot and the home lot, resetting the Investigator Sim, and NOTHING has worked. I am beyond desperate!

So um, I got the Sims 3 a week ago and it crashes quite a lot. At first it didn't crash and I know it was because I had little things. I am not disabling custom content. Otherwise my Sims will fight more often. Because I have like eight sims lol it'll be true chaos. Okay, so before it would crash every time I save. Like 3/4 times. I'm not progressing very fast in the game. And now it's sooooooooo much worse. It just crashes randomly while I'm playing the game. And it sucks. Like the computer just shuts down and I loose everything I did up to that. So I have to do it over again. My Dad checked what was wrong with my computer and everything was okay? We even tried defragmentating the disk and lowering the graphics to the minimum. Yet it STILL crashes. Like I'm fed up and I don't know what is wrong with my game. My Dad suggested it could probably be bugs. But it might be something with the files as I researched it. If you know how to fix this, Please give me a SIMPLE and easy to understand explanation on what to do. Btw, I have Windows 7, just to be specific and make the explanations easier ^^
I'll appreciate it soooo much if you were to help me fix this.
I don't have any CC on here anymore(cause I accidentally clicked the "yes" button -___-) so it can't be the problem of too much CC or anything. I didn't have this problem before when I played it on the disk. any solutions/suggestions?

When I went to run the launcher, it takes a second, then comes up with the standard windows "Has Stopped Working" error, no other details.
If I try to run the executable directly, it starts loading and just as the bar hits the end, it just.... closes! No error message, or anything, the game just closes without any hint to why it would have closed.
I am running Windows 7, for reference.
Now, I’m on the verge of obtaining said computer and I find my self trying to find the proper gaming computer to play it one.
I’m seriously NOT good at computers, well the workings of one at least.
I can’t get a straight answer from anyone about which computer is best for Sims 3. I know Alienware is probably the best option but I don’t really want one unless its cheap and I know where I can find one. I have no ideas really.
I was thinking of buying this Gateway but I’m still not sure about it #mce_temp_url#

Ok well I've tried literally everything I can find as so called 'fixes' to
stop this problem and NOTHING is working.

~Here's is my PC Specs.

M/b: ASUS M4N82 Deluxe nForce 980a SLI AM3

CPU: AMD Phenom II X3 720 True Triple Core 2.8GHz

RAM: 4GB (2x2) Vitesta DDR2 800MHz

Graphics: Nvidia GEForce GTX 260

PSU: BFG 800w ES-800 Quad 12v w/ 2.91 SLI support

Cooling: x6 1200rpm fans.

O/S: Windows 7 Professional

DirectX: 11

HDD Capacity: x2 Samsung SATA HDDs - 1.5TB & 1TB

I completely wiped The Sims 3 from my system, did a registry cleanup etc etc.
and reinstalled the base game ONLY without adding a single CC file. Installed
via default directory.

I've tried an alternate directory on a differtent HDD. Didn't help.

I've tried the DEP tip, didn't help.

I completely wiped my graphics driver clean off of the system and I've
updated the graphics driver. Didn't help.

I've looked in in 'Virtual Store' folder. It's empty.

I've deleted the temp cache files. Didn't help.

I've patched the game to 1.33. Didn't help.

I have dot net framework 4 installed.

I've tried running as admin, tried compatbility mode (XP SP3 AND XP SP2)
Still didn't help.

You name it I've tried it.

The Crash Log Analyzer keeps telling me its a graphics issue but my card and
the drivers are FINE. I've tested it with Fallout 3 modded like crazy and THAT
game is far more tempermental with graphics issues and it's running perfectly on
a 1360x768 resolution.

The resolution is that high because my PC is hooked up via hd to my Sony
Bravia. Don't try telling me that's the issue either please, The game 'Create a
Sim' menu was loading fine 3 days ago.

Everything else seems to be fine I think, I've moved into a lot with no
issues but I haven't tried playing yet because I WANT MY OWN SIM OFCOURSE.

Please, please help. I'm totally defeated. This thing just won't give it
up!

(It is a full retail copy of the game and is running fine on my laptop when I
tested it, the laptop has far lower specs too).

Many thanks

Many thanks

Hi everyone,
I wanted to start a thread dedicated to helping out with opportunity tips or with any questions.

Feel free to use this thread to post your own problems, or tips or questions, or answers to questions relating to any Sims 3 Opportunity.

I've had a few problems with not being able to complete Opportunities in the past and always ended up giving up and cancelling the Opportunity. But I don't want to do that anymore, so I'm asking for help:

The Sim I have is in the Criminal Career Track and received the Opportunity called: "Welcome to the Family". It seems simple: I'm supposed to read a book called "Do's and Don'ts of the Dons". But where is this book? I've checked the bookstore, and I'm still in the process of checking every single bookshelf in the library (I've checked the first floor, and am half way done the 2nd floor). But if someone happens to know a faster solution I'm all ears

Hi all...I know EVERYONE has been having this problem, but I can not figure out why mine isn't working. Let me just tell you how extremely frustrated I am. On this same computer I was able to run The Sims 2 plus every expansion pack for it without a problem...now I can't even run this one for more than 2 seconds! Last Friday I bought The Sims 3 Plus Pets and installed it. Spent all night creating a family and moving into a house, but didn't actually play the game yet. The following morning I was able to play for about 30-40 min without any problem. Then, I switched back and forth between buy mode and build mode and since then my game has been crashing every time I attempt to play. Sometimes it crashes to desktop, other times it freezes my computer completely. I've been researching this issue, contacting EA to figure it out, and literally have tried everything. Here's what I've done:

-Uninstalled/Installed 3x (this last uninstall was a manual uninstall)
-Changed DEP settings
-Turned off UAC
-Tried Playing in Windowed Mode

And here's my computer specs:
Windows 7 x64-bit Intel® Core™ i5 CPU M 520 2.40GHz
4096 MB RAM, 397 GB on Hard Drive
Intel® HD Graphics (core i5) 128 MB Video Memory
Driver Version 8.15.10.2104
DirectX 11

According to The Sims 3 System Requirements I have everything it needs to run, and more. What is wrong here???

Hi,

I'm currently having a problem with the sims 3 in game screenshot function. When I press "c" to take a picture it recognises it, but when I go to see if it actually saved or not it hasn't. I have recently installed cc, but that was only hair and the only other thing I downloaded was the Lunar Lakes file that earth mama gave us (yes I downloaded it). Lunar lakes seems to be the most probable cause of the problem.

Edit: I have since uninstalled Lunar Lakes and deleted it, which haven't solved the problem. Also there was that recent patch which might be the cause, is there anyway I could down-grade the game, without re-installing the sims 3?

I really don't want to have to cancel my new legacy!

Hi -

I just installed The Sims 3 tonight (from a disc), and I'm having some trouble with the launch.

When I click my taskbar shortcut, it opens the Sims Launcher just fine, and I'm able to start the game. The EA logo appears, followed by the Sims 3 logo and introduction video. After the video, however, the cursor loading icon pops up on a black screen, freezes, and then the game kills my monitor's video input. I can still hear the music in the background, so I know that the process is still running, but all of my other Windows hotkeys are frozen and I'm unable to restore the system. Each time this occurs, I have to hard boot my PC, and it's getting extremely irritating. I have a feeling that it's related to the game's default resolution, which is probably incompatible with my monitor, but how am I supposed to change it if the game won't even load? What could be causing this, and how can I fix it?

General Information:
- The game is patched to the latest version. (1.29.55.014001)
- My PC's video drivers are up-to-date.
- There are no excess processes running in the background.
- I have checked and re-checked my monitor's cables, and they are not the problem.

PC Specs:
- OS: Windows 7 Professional x64
- CPU: Intel i7 930 @ 3.0GHz (8 cores)
- RAM: 6GB DDR3
- Motherboard: ASUS Rampage III Extreme
- Video: NVIDIA GeForce 260 GTX x2 (SLI-bridged)
- Monitor: I-INC 28" 1920x1200 16:10 w/ VGA input
Thanks for any input.
