Nice idea, Paul. Sounds kind of familiar, though
The possibilities really are endless when it comes to awards. There could be one-time awards for the members who have been here the longest, members who made 1,000 posts in under a week, members who've been signed in the longest...etc. etc. etc. Then there could be reoccurring awards for MotM, greatest amount of posts in one week, most karma at the end of a week, best siggy, most helpful...etc. etc. etc.
As for MotM - at my site, you can only be MotM once a year. That gives 12 people the opportunity to enjoy the spotlight rather than the same person over and over again. But, of course, it can be adjusted to fit this site. That's just the way I run it at mine.
Again, I really love the idea of having awards on forums. It creates an extra purpose for being on the site, it draws in more members, and it makes members feel special/noticed. As for those who don't get awards, it gives them something to work towards, if they want one. If not, then we shouldn't worry about making them feel bad as they're not really working to stand out anyway.
Just my opinion, anyway.

Maybe we could put it in the newly forming newsletter for this site: http://simsforumsnewsletter.webs.com/
Well, the site's still in production, but it's getting there!
