Still nursing that headache. It's been three days now & it's getting ridiculous. It could be atmospherics though as a couple of neighbours have complained of the same.

Poor Minty. Could be the weather, it's certainly not doing anyone with sinus problems any good at the moment.

I'm getting ready for bed, as my eyes are no use open any more.

Bloody hell - someone e-mailed me asking me to write an article for their magazine because they'd been impressed with some points I'd made on the web.

I turned them down though - the last time I got myself involved with other people's publications it got me into enough trouble, besides which I'm sick of spending all day typing apps as it is.


I'm also highly suspicious of any complete strangers asking me to volunteer to help them out of the blue - it usually means trouble.

I'm sure you're right, Minty, to be cautious about helping strangers by writing up articles for them. Hopefully you weren't obliged to turn down a favourable cash incentive! Extra typing up of articles would not really help your poor head to rid itself of its ache anyhow.

I slept for nearly nine hours last night but am still exhausted. Thank goodness it's Friday as I doubt I could go on much longer. I can't wait to go home and lie down on the sofa with cucumber circles over my eyes. In the meantime, better crack on with some work I suppose.

No chance of any favourable cash incentive - you don't even get £5 for getting your letter in the papers anymore! You're meant to be so happy about getting your name in print you'll give them several hours work for free for others to make money out of. They may find other mugs happy to do that, not me.

There's a guy that's done a local newspaper column in our area for over a decade, & doesn't receive a penny for it, he's happy that he's got somewhere to spout off his made up rubbish about everything in the local area having some connection to freemasons, druids, or druids in the freemasons or where else he makes up. What a complete tool!

Someone I knew at Uni did a column for one of the nationals, & it was only when she asked them when she was getting paid she discovered she wasn't: she was one of those holistic medicine people & their argument was that they were giving her a free advert. As she pointed out, she was also giving away free diagnostics! End of column, & they got some other mug to do freebies for them.

The latest trend is having newspaper bloggers, cretins clapping their hands with glee at getting to pretend to be a journalist, for NO PAY! How stupid are these muttonheads? They could start a blog of their own, have adverts on it & make some money out of it - but no, they'd sooner help people like Rupert Murdoch get richer.

Ah NO! It's the nearest Saturday to 1st July, so the Orange Order are out giving everyone a headache locally. You'd think they'd have grown up by now!

I've no problem with people writing articles about their interests or wanting to contribute to magazines even if there's nothing in it for them financially - writing is as good a hobby as anything else, after all. But sometimes it can provide a platform to crackpots and loons, like your freemason-druid man.

(I'm not sure I have anything positive to say about 'holistic' medicine, nor about someone failing to establish the terms of their supposed employment prior to producing the work, so perhaps I should be silent on that one, lest I diss Minty's friend!)

Right now I am realising that the entire day has got away from me. I've done nothing useful, played no games, achieved none of my to-do list items. Rubbish Caspin! I have, however, managed to make a wildly extravagant online purchase. Well done me! Jeez.

Writing about something you enjoy is one thing, but to let someone else make money out of it? Sod that! There's enough leechy bar stewards in the world that want you to do overtime for nothing (when you're in work - sob!) without doing voluntary work for a business. If it was going to help a charity make some cash, hey, that would be cool, but not so Mr Sweaty Minor Press Baron can pay for his trip to Barbabos.

That's one of the reasons I'm so against this whole "interns" lark. Doing an Internship with a charity, fine, great, everyone benefits but why is it doing one isn't treated seriously on someone's CV anymore by other employers unless they are doing it for someone that could afford to pay a wage, but won't? One of our neighbours kids planned to do one with the Community Service Volunteers, but was warned by her careers advisors that employers wouldn't "count" it as proper experience. WTF?

You want to slag off holistic medicine, go knock yourself out! Never trusted that junk, & glad to see the Coalition has finally withdrawn its NHS funding. Ever read Ben Goldacre's Bad Science column in the Guardian & online? Brilliant writer, although he did make an bum of himself when he said he was selling his Liverpool & Victoria shares in disgust over some scheme they were doing - L&V being a mutual!

We have him to thank for discrediting the Poo woman "Dr" Gillian McKeith (she tried to sue him, it became a show trial, & she was ripped to pieces in court. Reputation in tatters, but Holland & Barrett still think she's wonderful)
