The Official Nonsense Thread

RE: The Official Nonsense Thread
I'm still here! Surprisingly. Wink I don't know why I have struggled in the past to go to this site like I used to; considering I go on Facebook every five seconds and nothing is different I think I can visit this site as well. Tongue I've been playing TS4 a lot lately too. Once I play I can't stop!

Oh dear. I hope your chaos/annoyances have been subdued. You were missed!

Relatives definitely coming to stay for Christmas would be bad enough, but relatives possibly coming for Christmas would certainly be worse. Especially if they require outlandish specialist foodstuffs. What do they eat, anyhow? Can't they get by on turkey sandwiches and cheeses like everyone else? If they make it as far as Manchester but can't go any further north, they can always come west instead to my brother's house and I'll make them polenta. Surely it is so mild this year that the roads will be fine. I remember once trying to get back to Edinburgh after Christmas on a national express coach (because as an impoverished student I could not afford a train ticket) and it was snowing like mad and the roads were all icy. Also it was the middle of the night because we had been so delayed. It was quite "exciting" whenever we had to go up or down a hill!

That's the spirit! I have never used Facebook and I am so glad. Some people seem totally addicted. I'd much rather be playing a game. Or asleep. Big Grin

I am fully recovered from the gastro-attack. I am trying to view it in a positive light, as is my way, as a great purge prior to eating my weight in lebkuchen next week. I was pleased that I was able to go to see "The Knight of the Burning Pestle" last night. It was totally mad and I laughed my head off, which is, of course, the best possible medicine. Biggrin

I think I'm addicted to the Playhouse at the Globe. It's so cosy and seeing plays by candlelight is wonderful for someone photophobic.

Oh dear oh dear oh dear. Finally, FINALLY, Marine were winning a game. Two-nil at half-time. Then what happens? The bloody floodlights go pop. Fifty grand those lights cost! Match abandoned and will need to be replayed. Sad.

Time for a drink and one of those tv shows that is just a big list. All the Christmas number one singles or something. I can't stand most Christmas songs! My top three would probably be Wham, The Pogues and Kylie (yes really)! Tongue

Good to know you're better, Caspin.

I'm kinda sick of Facebook, I only like to check up on it to see some of the weirdest and messed up posts/statuses that will literally murder your brain cells, watching "fights" break out in comments (mind you, they appear to find it difficult to type in their own language, English), before laughing and and sending pictures of what they said to friends.
Anyway, I'm addicted to twitter now, they have such a warm and cozy Sims community.

RE: The Official Nonsense Thread
Gosh. I'm very glad you find it to be so, Ollie. Personally I've seen some abominable behaviour on Twitter. Being online appears to bring out the worst in some people. I was reading an article the other day that stated that people feel comfortable saying things online that they'd never dare to say offline, even if the account they are using is not anonymous. I find that troubling. Just goes to show that some people harbour some seriously unpleasant views and now have an outlet for them. There are no circumstances in which I would say anything online that I wouldn't say to the person's face.

Tonight I am going to go and watch that new Hobbit film. I couldn't get my words out yesterday and kept calling them "Bobbits". I hope it's good. I really enjoyed the Smaug one. There need to be a lot of elves jumping and firing arrows and a great many dwarves singing harmoniously. Just the thing for a chilly December evening.

RE: The Official Nonsense Thread
I was going to see the final part of The Hobbit but decided I'll wait for the DVD. Three hours in the cinema which will mean at least one toilet break & probably missing the best part in the whole movie in the process. Nah!

You really can't wait three hours? OK, everybody shuffle along, we need to sit Minty by the aisle. Biggrin

I've got maltesers and a hip flask. Sorted. Off I go to observe these five armies.

RE: The Official Nonsense Thread
In what is fast becoming an annual event, Glasgow had another mini-disaster before Christmas yesterday:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-gl...t-30583678

Reports are vague, but it seems the driver had a heart attack or blacked out at the wheel. There was a case a few years back where a council driver blacked out at the wheel & ploughed into a bus stop, killing several people, & it turned out he'd fake medical certificates as he was known to his doctor to suffer from blackouts which would have lost him his licence.

RE: The Official Nonsense Thread
I saw that on the news. Very sad. Depressing as well that the news reporters feel compelled to state that the police don't suspect terrorism - as though nothing these days can just be a tragic accident, everything must be escalated to an international crisis. Awful for the driver and family as well, no matter what the reason for the loss of control.

Be careful out there, everybody.

My last day at work today. Or half a day, actually. I will be off on the train this afternoon. Given that my immediate biological family consists of only five people (including me) and of those three have been in hospital this year and one probably should have been, all I really want is a peaceful week off with no emergency scenarios. Remember how last year the roof came off the house? Yeah, I don't need any of that just now, thanks! Just a nice quiet week watching Harry Potter films and eating turkey sandwiches. That is all.

I have my iPad so you will not be Caspin-free for even a single moment, do not fret. Tongue

Near enough now (and late by Aussie timing) - Merry Christmas!

I hope everyone has a good day and eats lots of food. And if you are not in a festive mood, don't worry, it'll soon be over! Tongue
